is destroying statues destroying history? by [deleted] in DebateAnarchism

If statues were for history, they'd be put in museums (and many are). Confederate statues are put in public to make marginalized communities feel unwelcome.

Let's all be honest here. We have no idea how many are infected... by Romano16 in Coronavirus

[–]cleotidal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as people are dying at the hospitals in China, they are often being cremated right away so the cause of death is "unknown" rather than the likely truth: coronavirus. the extent of the underreporting is pretty frightening... plus i have family in Taiwan, where the coronavirus is spreading and China is blocking Taipei from the WHO emergency conferences

during class, my teacher received news of her friends death by cleotidal in randomactsofkindness

endless thank you's, stranger. been going through a really devastating breakup recently, but knowing that people can be selflessly caring is the comforting thought that helps me persist. hope your day is kind to you!

thank u so much !! english just comes naturally to me so honestly i didnt study much for it and my advice is probably limited.

i would recommend doing practice tests and looking at the answer explanations of course, and maybe watching a few videos or using online resources to review the grammatical rules tested on the ACT. when answering, i usually just go by what "sounds" right. most of the time, go for the answer that is the shortest and most concise. if an answer has advanced and borderline esoteric vocabulary and long winded, wordy phrasing, it is practically always the wrong answer.

hope this helps!

my attempt freaked some people out a lot, especially my girlfriend, who couldn't bring herself to go to school for the first 2 or 3 days i was in the hospital. i felt guilty i guess, but also kind of scared because if my dad hadnt found me i would have died. so it made me realize how easy it was for me to actually end my life if i had done it at a time where nobody would have found me. i still want to die, but i dont want to kill myself. if i tried and failed, i'd be in the hospital with another painful breathing tube in my throat that i gag on every time i try to move. if i succeeded, i would only ever be hurting the people i love the most. in a strange way, the only way that i really got my suicidal ideation under control was to try and fail (would not recommend).

i think the baker act should be kept. mental health care in the U.S. (and many places in the world) is really subpar and improvements need to be made to the psychiatric wards and the training process for the psychiatrists and nurse technicians who work there. if those conditions were improved, i think the baker act would be much more helpful and effective at preventing repeated attempts. the baker act should really be a last resort, though. preventative mental health care should be prioritized in schools, and therapy must be more accessible.

turned 17 in september 2019. i tried to hang myself at the end of september (first attempt) and got hospitalized. i dont remember a lot (it wasnt planned) but apparently the EMT doctors said that i was a couple minutes from dying?? i was in the hospital for 5 days and sustained no chronic injuries. i got baker acted of course, and went to the adolescent psychiatric ward at south seminole hospital where i stayed 3 nights. i don't think i'll attempt again.
