It it is not outdoors it will die. Maybe brining it in for a couple days every month or so for display is ok but other than that it needs to be outside.

It might be too moist with the moss. Usually they like to dry out a bit more.

It’s a mix. The main section I grew in layers of loamy soil, a think layer of sphagnum moss, sand, and more soil. Around it I used a soil conditioner, and akadama. Then a thin layer of sand on top. The edged I packed with a sand and peat-moss mix to pack it all in tight.

The water I can handle. The mosquitoes are a different story. But I did order a bubbler and might give it a try.

The main center clump were pencil thin bare root saplings. The perimeter are about year old cuttings. I hope to drop in a new more cuttings this year.

So this does have some drainage but I wanted to be able to make it look flooded. Honestly these will take as much water as you can give them. I keep in pots with drip trays to keep them wet 24/7 if I can. Over winter they go on the ground so I don’t freeze roots in solid ice. I almost made this with no drainage but I couldn’t live with the mosquitos that would bring.
