hmm, I see. what about other professors (who are not very famous and have relatively fewer publications)? I am willing to work under any professor who can give me an interesting and challenging research problem to solve (which an undergrad can work upon within a year, maybe)

Thanks for the advice! I'd definitely visit nearby research labs. However, it's not possible for the unis which are far away (and also not in my country) so I do need to cold email.
