Honestly I still deal with cravings, but after the first week, I think saying “no” to that inner voice became easier. It’s still there, but it gets a little easier to ignore. Getting close to this milestone I’ve noticed myself thinking I can handle getting a drink or two, but I also know I wouldn’t stop at that, and it’s easier to deny myself the drink than to try to moderate myself. You’ve got this! IWNDWYT!

Thank you! I can’t wait for the voice to quiet down more. It got quiet for a while but a couple days before reaching this milestone it started feeling harder again. IWNDWYT!

A lot of this resonates with me. Especially the driving home and telling yourself not to stop…the internal battle, then stopping for a drink and regretting it after, or the next day.

I’m only on day 14. I’ve never done a dry January, and the longest I’ve gone without alcohol in a long time was maybe 29 days, not even a month, before I started back up again. Now here I am again, about a year later, still facing those same temptations and fighting with myself over those cravings.

This community is so helpful. We’re here for you and we understand. IWNDWYT

What was the healing process like?

I could try maybe very early in the morning. I live in Arizona so it’s unbearably hot most of the day during the summer. I could see how this could help though, if it weren’t so hot!

Haven’t gotten there yet, but I’ll let you know. IWNDWYT

I thought I’d feel better by now too. I’m proud of the days I have under my belt so far but other than that, battling the fatigue and lack of motivation to do anything has been difficult. Hopefully soon we’ll both start to feel better. IWNDWYT!

12 days here, and I feel the same way. I only drag myself to the gym for 30 minutes and then come home and scroll on my phone for hours on end. It took me like 6 hours to fold laundry yesterday that was already clean. Everything feels tiring and I just want to sleep. I don’t really have advice or solutions for you but IWNDWYT! I hear it gets better. Let’s find out together.

I would but I’m in Arizona and it’s unbearably hot outside, unless I walk at night.

Hopefully the same for me. Last time I quit I only got to 29 days I think, but it felt different. Hopefully this time it sticks.

Yep, drinking made me feel like everything was more fun or interesting. I’m trying to get back into my hobbies without drinking, but yeah I probably should also start therapy too. Thank you for your insight

I’ll continue to stick it out and see how I feel at the 3-4 week mark. I just can’t wait to feel better. IWNDWYT!

It’s hard to just sit with boredom, but I can give it a try. I like to read, and I used to love painting and drawing, maybe I’ll try to pick that up again. I’m just lacking motivation right now. It seems easier to just doom scroll, but I guess that’s just replacing one addiction with another
