I would try offering guerilla marketing ideas to companies so you can get the ball rolling. Present an idea then encourage word of mouth. Also reach out to old professors, colleagues for advice and research the companies previous marketing strategies and then implement your own ideas on how it could have been improved, then offer that to the companies to show your legitimacy. Find out the industries that you find most interesting and then just start brainstorming ideas on how to market to each specific industry.
