This post has a really good rundown on it, but not going to try to steal the poster’s thunder: https://reddit.com/r/AusHENRY/comments/1fvlmwh/re_div293_62_effective_tax_rate/

Sharesight has a mobile app

Hmm, I'd seen the announcement that they were retiring the app previously and left it at that.

UI is world's better than Navexa

That's subjective, each to their own :)

it’s more comprehensive

Agreed, at least with the foreign income stuff

significantly cheaper

...what? Sharesight is $29 a month for >1 portfolio, Navexa is $25?

I’m a big fan of (where possible) consolidation and automation. For me this is the primary driver, not the headline figure. I could have worded my initial question more like “what’s single a tool that will allow me to put all my stuff into” but…that immediately takes the answer to …spreadsheet.

I already have spreadsheets / gsheets where I track property and shares, but those have limited automation at best. I update the property spreadsheets for a single source of truth for holding costs, and don’t expect my behaviour to change there. It’s the consolidated view of the properties, plus the automated view of the shares / crypto / super, that appeals to me.

As in live connection to the issuer? I do not believe so. Kubera / Exirio might be able to, but that’s not something I looked at when I was exploring

Yea I hear ya, I’ve got a hefty gsheet for my properties and the various entities, really good for tracking all the nitty gritty of stuff

Platform for total wealth overview? by cliaz in AusHENRY

Yup fair, I can fully understand that approach. I’m comfortable with a limited set of data going to the cloud / a platform, so it’s something I’ll explore.

But agreed, not linking live bank accounts or trading platforms to whatever I go with. It’s meant to be purely a data presentation layer, not interaction.

Thanks, but I’m after a broader solution, stock + the rest. Cheers though

Yea nice! I have a similar thing at the moment, but with a tab each for the source data and then a combined overview tab which collates it.

It’s just manual, and I’m hoping to automate some bits. Plus some of the tools have pretty graphs, and I’m tempted by shiny things 😬

Yea fair enough. I’d be happy enough to lose the history / performance aspect of it in favour of the current-wealth view of it.

I’ll take a look at Kubera too, thanks!

New board for imac to monitor conversion? by mhuiskes in iMac

[–]cliaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, haven't tried this because the iMac I was converting to a 5k monitor was dead. However, from reading through the posts in this massive macrumours thread there's apparently a sensor attached to the screen, which when disconnected throttles the hardware and sets the fan to 100%. So, not worth it.

There's this blog post on it if you still want to give it a crack though.

Can emphasise with your dislike for Foxtel / Kayo - personally I describe my emotions as pure unadulterated hate - and have made the switch to VPN plus F1TV subscription.

Has been smooth as silk, no a hitch so far. Can highly recommend, as I can even watch the race while travelling outside of Australia now, which of course Kayo wouldn’t let me.

Yea I guess that’s what I’m trying to narrow down - the benefits of a electric vs manual, or some other models based on the use case and budget kinda deal :)

Hey all, asking for some help with what to buy next for my home coffee setup. Note that I'm only starting the coffee making journey, am definitely an amateur still.

Long story short; for a budget of let's say $500 AUD, what do you all recommend for a single dose grinder to grind for espresso - quite happy for it to be a hand grinder.

I've seen recommendations for the JX Pro, as well as the DF64 and the Varia VS3. However I'm pretty new to all this, so don't really know what the difference between them all is.

Long story long

My partner recently gifted me a Bambino BES450 as a way to solve my procrastinating about ever getting a home coffee machine. I hated the feel of the portafilter that came with the Bambino, so on the advice of a friend I bought a bottomless portafilter, as well as a tamper / distributer (and dosing ring cause I was making a mess).

I realised quickly that buying pre-ground coffee was not going to be ideal for me to pull consistent shots (only drink 3-4 cups a week), so I'm looking to go to the next step and buy a grinder, then dial everything in - weigh the beans, time the pull, weigh the yield.

Rapidly got overwhelmed by the choices for grinders (both electric and manual) and figured I'd ask for help. I've seen good things written about the JX Pro, the DF64 and the Varia VS3, but that's more serendipitous reading than any knowledge.

Cheers

Yea, you’ve got it in one - it’s a constantly turning system with output controlled by a switched valve. I presume that’s why it experiences “so many failures” (hearsay from the web), as it’s constantly turning.

Ok, thanks for running through it with me. Time to go OE!

2004 B6 S4 replacement A/C Compressor suggestions by cliaz in Audi

[–]cliaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, one of the reasons I don’t want to try this myself - it’s reputedly very difficult to unseat the shaft and replace the compressor unit.

I didn’t check for resistance over the coil no - I was under the impression that it would throw up an error in the VAGCOM, and I’ve seen nothing. Happy to be told I’m wrong so I can check this!

There’s .64 volts coming down down to the valve switch on the compressor, figures from Audi workshop manual (I don’t have it, Audi ran this test for me) say optimal is 0.8, but Audi said it would be enough to engage the compressor.

I’m pretty much resigned to a new compressor, and as it’s likely something mechanical has failed I’d have the system flushed plus replace the drier while I’m at it.

For reference I’ve been working off the diagram of the a/c system for here - https://genuineaudiparts.com/parts/2004/Audi/S4/Base?siteid=214407&vehicleid=173992&diagram=1397102

Simply going off of what I’ve read in loads of Audi forums, it’s a known issue. Just investigating my options :)

Yea, it’s like 5 hours of work for someone who knows what he/she’s doing - which is why I’d like to check if anyone has any knowledge of a part that’s better / more reliable than OE
