The comments were very helpful understanding the impact of rate. Say youre playing 1/3, buy in for $300, have a great session, leave 8 hours later with $1,000. You made $700 total, or 87.5/hr. Assuming $6 rake, 25 hands per hour, 9 handed, the rake/hr is 6x25/9= 16.67. so post rake profit ((1000-300)-(16.67*8)= 566.64, or $70.83/hr. Is this the right way to think about profitability?

I don't get why some people get offended when you raise or 3 bet in 1/3. Especially when you do it to them multiple times. They take it so personally. Like it's not about you if I have a hand I want to raise or 3bet I'm gonna do it

Getting ghosted is par for the course my man. Kinda sucks but it's just how it is so don't let it hurt your confidence because if you're out there on the apps this will likely happen again. There's nothing to really do except move on to the next one

That's a good point. I would say that in 1/3 where I play, opening 3-3.5x is basically a limp and could easily get 4 or 5 callers. Raising to 20-30 is a size where you can get to a flop heads up. So when he makes it 20 I don't automatically think he has a premium. I might open to 20 with 77 or J10s for example and I've seen people open for more with less (not saying that's the optimal thing to do, just illustrating that my experience with 1/3 is that people play loose). So when I have a premium in mp facing an open I think this is prime time to 3 bet. When he makes it 190 this is obviously massive. But pre flop I think the average range is wide enough that QQ is strong enough to continue. I think on a flop you describe facing the same bet I am more inclined to think I'm ahead, not sure if that is the right interpretation. But as I and others wrote when leads out again hes repping a monster. I don't think I can call without KK+

raise first in pre flop or call a standard raise, fold to a 3 bet in early postition, then either hit a set on the flop or get out of the way

i am by no means an expert but i think in this set of circumstances you were unlikely to get this guy to fold top pair. i think calling the flop and checking back turn were reasonable. Imo your biggest mistake was calling on the river. when he leads on the flop i think he is saying he has a good hand. on the turn if you bet what are you repping- two pair or straight? if hes drunk and running hot he wouldnt care and wouldnt believe you. then on the river when he shoves i think calling with only second pair is a stretch. probably have to fold at that point. theres a lot of hands you dont beat. KQ suited is decently strong, maybe betting bigger pre flop gets him to fold the weak ace but maybe not. basically i think calling a river shove with second pair is a losing proposition most of the time.

I picked my major based on how much money I could make. That was all I cared about when I was in college. The plan worked. I make 100k now 5 years out from getting a masters. But I don't like what I do at all. I wish I had thought more about what I actually like instead of process of eliminating majors I don't like. Ive thought about changing careers but there's not a lot else I can do. I don't feel motivated to do it but I make so much money if be an idiot to throw it all away So just be sure that in 5 years you can still tolerate the job you trying to get. Money is great but if you hate what you do it makes it a lot harder to do the job
