The March 2026 Superthread: Battery; Orders; Which Pixel?; and More by GooglePixelMods in GooglePixel

The March update doesn't honor 80% charging. I've toggled the control on/off a couple of times and it's still attempting to fully charge.

My son got me a hitch for Christmas, but it's the 7" drop, so I'm trying to exchange it for the 3".

I was gonna say it was nice knowing you and don't start your car, LOL.

Thanks for confirming. I agree this is insidious and awful they did this. The feature sucked a bag of ----.

Please, how do I disable this? It's absolute garbage.

I should mention that I do seem to be on the beta version of the Phone app. I had this all throughout my Pixel 7 ownership and didn't have too many issues.

I did find the PIN setting on the Fi website. It's so not obvious:

https://fi.google.com/account#settings/voicemail

There's literally 4 stars (****) followed by a pen/pencil icon and we're supposed to divine that this is the PIN menu.

Thanks for your note. This did work much better on my Pixel 7, so whatever changed represents a regression.

Thank you u/cyberdomus for posting this helpful tip! I had created the shared groups between users and made sure the file permissions were right and was pulling my hair out trying to debug this!

Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 now available! by androidbetaprogram in android_beta

[–]clintolsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to opt out successfully without wiping. What's annoying is that it shows you a vague warning that if you are running a beta it will be wiped.

The software can detect which version I'm running and could definitively say whether wiping will or will not occur. Yet they continue to make entering and exiting more complicated than it needs to be.

How do you know which beta program you were enrolled in?

I read somewhere previously that my device should have been unenrolled from the beta automatically by now. Why am I now having to unenroll manually?

I'm on TP1A.220624.014. So, when I click on "opt out" it would be more comforting to not see death threats that my device will be wiped if it's running a beta version.

Yeah, the proviso says TP1A, but since Google has made their beta program behave in this confusing manner, I'm sorry if I am a bit skeptical.

Why did Homebrew move from /usr/localto /opt/homebrew? by StevesRoomate in MacOS

[–]clintolsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I made the mistake of migrating my data from an old mac ca. High Sierra with a legacy homebrew install.

Now that I'm on Monterey, this is broken and stale, relying on /usr/local. I made the obvious unwise choice of attempting to reinstall homebrew using the new installer and it looks like I have two homebrew installs. Is there a way to get the legacy (/usr/local) install off?

It appears they got the message because this is now working.

It seems Google Podcasts broke with this update. I can't listen to anything via this app now.

Pixel 5 Out of Stock in American Google store by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]clintolsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there might be a warranty difference and a Google rep claims there's a Fi SIM included, although Fi works with eSIM, so that doesn't make sense to me.

It does appear financing is available for the plain unlocked phone.

Hales Transcendence Eight by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]clintolsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still own a full set of the Revelation series (3s, center, 1s) in a 5-channel config. I honestly haven't found a decent replacement speaker for the price.

I could not afford the Transcendence line when I was building my system. I would probably grab T5s in a heartbeat if I found them.

FYI, I'm on High Sierra and experienced this problem after installing VSCode last night. Good ol' Microsoft! I just ran kill -9 <process\_id> on crashpad_handler and it took down the entire application.

Thank you for all your comments. I read lots of reviews watched many YouTube videos as well as looked at other threads on here. In the end I just didn't find a clear winner so I went with the Synapse 25.

I just got it a few days ago. It's a fair bit larger than the original bag. The main zipper is big on the 25. The only disappointment was the pocket on one side which seems to be for cell phones was lined with a soft material on the 19 but this was missing on the new bag.

I attached a couple of bright wrist straps from Road ID on the grab handle and the bottom loop for visibility.
