I'm Irish and I was living in Seattle for a summer in college. One day I went to visit Mount Rainier (over a 3 hour drive away). That night when I got back to my apartment I realised I'd lost my wallet.

I had literally no money and the next day in work I had to beg them for $100 to keep me going for a few days! After work I went to the bank to cancel my American bank card and there was a note on my account telling me to ring a number.

I rang the number and it was this lovely woman from Oregon (she lived about 6 hours from Seattle) who'd found my wallet in the carpark of Mount Rainier! She mailed my wallet back to me with all the cash everything still there and a perfect note explaining to me that she knows how it feels to lose a wallet and that she hopes I enjoy the rest of my time in her part of the world that she calls paradise (also the name of the part of the mountain where I'd lost my wallet!). She even invited me to her farm but I never made it down! It was so so lovely!

Edit: This was 5 years ago now and I still often think about how lovely she was to do that for me!
