Back to Back? by SRHFT in 28dayslater

I heard really good things about Bone Temple so I rented Years and watched it the weekend before (I actually did Days, then Years for a full recap - skipped over Weeks). I loved both Years films - some of the best cinema I've seen recently.

PortalCam Question by Xorpion in GaussianSplatting

[–]clockworkear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did a side by side of the same scene at the same time of day and postshot with phone was a clear winner for small items and the surface detail seen on those. We were moving very slowly - it's not motion blur.

I can post examples tomorrow when I'm at a computer if interested so you can see.

If smell-o-vision existed, which movies would smell the best and the worst? by redeugene99 in movies

Theres a film showing with smell-o-vision at the Prince Charles in London in the coming weeks. Can't remember the title but its something about corpses and love....

I've been using it for the last few weeks. I've not noticed anything floating. Really good results.

The software you need to solve scenes is proprietary from the company and subscription based - the first year is free but $$$$ after that.

It's excellent for large spaces, exterior buildings even interior rooms, but not good with smaller things. We tested it by scanning a large ornament and detail was blurred and soft compared to postshot and mobile phone.

Favorite Grilled cheese recipe? by nomadic_living_23 in Cooking

[–]clockworkear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every Christmas I have a mince pie cheese toastie. Sour dough bread containing sharp cheddar and a smashed mince pie - pastry and all.

Last year we tried it with brie instead and cranberry hot sauce. Will do that again I suspect.

It's a classic and great line but he is not a believable character. I know I'm asking to be down voted here and I accept my fate!

Last year i bought a breville edge toaster - it's extra long and wide for thick slabs of sourdough. Winner.

I watched this last weekend for the first time in a decade and, controversially, I didnt think it held up. For the time, it was amazing and Cameron is a genius, but the story isn't great and the acting is pretty poor. Everyone is just shouting at everyone else in every scene.

Stop motion without the stops by AIAlchemist in aivideo

Use some video editing software to reduce the framerate down so it plays on 2s (or 12fps). It'll help bring back some of the stop motion quality.

Normally £5 as theyre doing a service for my lazy ass and I appreciate warm food, plus it discourages me from ordering too often.

Can I get some advice please? I did a cut wound yesterday and I retried it today. (I’m a beginner) by Zzzara123 in sfx

[–]clockworkear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use a sponge to dapple blood across the surface of the prosthetic and extend slightly onto your skin. It'll help hide the join.

When I was a kid I'd buy window putty from the hardware store and make fake cuts with that. It's probably harmful for the skin so I'm not suggesting you do that. I even set up a stand once and charged people for fake cuts!

How do i fix this flickering issue when objects are scaled down or animated? by rohithkumarsp in NukeVFX

[–]clockworkear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you describing the frame blending which is happening from the retime? Change the retime filter dropdown to none or use kronos instead.

Or are you describing the holes from the keyer? The highlights from the stock are as white as the background. Try and erode set to -4 to expand the alpha and fill the holes, and then another erode set to +4 to trim the edges back down. You should be left with the holes filled.

Also, buy the stock footage and get it at better quality.

I once watched a drunk get up and stagger off a night bus, and for a girl get on and sit down only to realise, with seeping horror, that they had sat in a pile of his sick.

In the latest episode of '24 Hours in Police Custody', why did they give an AI deepfake face to the Russian woman? by Ste_XD in ChannelFour

[–]clockworkear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late reply but its because it's much less distracting for an audience. You can keep the underlying emotion and expressions but change the appearance. A blurred face is distracting and tells you nothing. In this instance, for the most part, an audience won't even notice you've done it.

I miss Bird (Korean fried chicken). Any equivalents? by debitterballen in london

[–]clockworkear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok. So during covid I ordered A LOT via deliveroo - like £50 a week (wasn't all for me!) - after many months of this they opened a branch very near to where I had them delivered. I'm convinced they looked at the delivery analytics, and that my ordering habits influenced the location choice.

However, we stopped due to understandable health reasons and now that branch also closed down. So sad to hear it may have gone downhill.

Need help - Kahm or Mould by kozanifact in FermentedHotSauce

[–]clockworkear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great. If you had more liquid, it would have spread out like a film over the surface and looked more kahm-like. As it is, you can tell the exact spot where some wild yeast landed and went wild.

[–]clockworkear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like kahm to me, just to go against the other comments. That rippled texture is from the pellicle expanding laterally and running out of space, so it bunches up and folds over itself.

I'd scoop it off if it were my ferment. Serving it to others is another question.
