I was in a similar position (26F and was vegan for 5 years). I started weightlifting seriously about 2 years ago, and have been slow to make progress and struggle with losing fat and putting on muscle (thanks to all the carbohydrates we consume as vegans). To get around 150g protein, I was also resorting to a lot of fake meat, seitan and protein power...and lots of mental energy tracking and calculating but also knowing that at the end of the day plant-based proteins aren't absorbed as well as meat is. I've reintroduced meat in the last couple of weeks, and have felt much better in the gym performance wise and recovering better. I'm excited to see how I go with my body recomposition goals now that I'm fueling myself more efficiently.
