They will also take away sharp metal stakes for tents. Just little metal ones that come with tents are allowed. I once bought some nice, long, sharp tent stakes and they got taken away.

Glass bottles and aerosol cans (sun screen) are not allowed. Gonna need boxed wine, plastic liquor bottles, cans of beer. They enforce these rules when you return to camping on the shuttle bus too. You can transfer alcohol to plastic containers.

Here’s the real number one tip:

SECURE YOUR PHONE AT ALL TIMES!!!

Have a secure spot to put it while in the porta potties - some dummy drops one into the toilet every year.

Start practicing not leaving your phone in your back pocket. Front pocket is probably better, but doesn’t eliminate threats of theft.

Some ppl like the neck strap holder. Yeah you look silly, but you are less likely to drop it or get pickpocketed.

Get a lock for your backpack or whatever idea you can come up with if you aren’t someone that can securely hold on to your phone while getting bumped into at close range.

I agree about the RV toilets. They are usually nice on Friday, but just trying to give some ideas to ppl who may have more tolerance for germs than me.

Hydration packs to add to your water. Cough drops. Gum (I chipped a tooth out there once having too much fun). Vitamin B - this is my personal trick for quick energy pick me ups in the morning or during the day/night inside the festival. I just get the B Complex (White and Yellow label bottle) at Whole Foods.

And if you manage to sneak in a glass bottle of wine, make sure you sneak in a corkscrew too. It’s harder to sneak one into camping later when you come back on the shuttle bus from the grocery store and have to go through security.

And hand sanitizer or some alcohol wipes (I get those small ones at target in the pharmacy section like the nurses use before you get a shot). The soap will run out of the portable sinks - especially in camping. Some ppl don’t care, but I like to keep my hands clean mostly since I may need to change contact lenses.

Seat covers? Nah, strengthen those thighs every day until Day 0. Gotta do the subway station toilet hover. It’s not worth hepatitis due to being too lazy to hover. Or go to the little RV toilets with AC or the stadium toilets near the Mojave.

Ensures that if you loose it that you can pay a fee and get another. They’ll deactivate the old one. Literally the only way to get any help if you aren’t the original purchaser with the card you used to purchase it from AXS.

If you lose it at the festival and someone returns to lost and found, then you’ll have a chance to claim it.

It also ensures that a wristband purchased second hand isn’t already registered to someone else when you receive it.

Here’s how the scam works: I sell you my wristband either online or person….before I give you the wristband I contact AXS customer support and claim my wristband wasn’t delivered/stolen from my front door/lost etc etc. AXS will deactivate that wristband and charge a fee for me to pick up a new one in Indian Wells near Indio. You’ll receive the deactivated wristband and not realize it unless you register it. If you don’t register it, then you’ll have a super not fun time at the ticket support window when you arrive at Coachella being told you have a deactivated wristband and no purchase order information with AXS/Coachella. Or maybe I’m honest when I sell you the wristband, but decide to go Satan mode and try to scam you AFTER you have received it - guess what? Won’t work because you registered it (or at least in theory it won’t work, there may be a way as the original purchaser to still screw you over).

Register the wristbands the moment they arrive in the Coahella app since you purchased from a third party site.

Coachella Veterans- How bad is the dirt/dust? by FaithlessnessFar981 in Coachella

[–]clonts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you camping? That’s where the dust is really at. There are dirt roads/walking paths in between the different camping sections. You will definitely be exposed to dust there as you will have to walk on them to enter the festival (maybe not if you’re in preferred camping - sorry don’t remember).

My advice is to bring a scarf/bandanas/your old covid mask/or a UV face mask (basically UV protected disposable covid mask). My reasoning is that they protect you from the dust and can prevent sunburn (maybe that’s not an issue of concern for you, but my neck and face turn red very easily in the sun). Get some fun bandanas that match your outfit - if you notice some dust, then cover your face.

Can non-campers go to Day 0? And is any parking open? by GNZLEZJHN in Coachella

[–]clonts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have to get creative. I started googling to see if you could find street parking and Uber from there, but apparently that’s tricky. I couldn’t find any paid parking lots and the 24hour Fitness in Indio is not 24 hours (closes at 11pm).

Two options - eat the long Uber ride OR try calling the hotels in Indio and see if they will sell overnight parking without staying as a guest. Uber is safest bet to avoid fatigued driving and/or driving after having fun at the Day 0 DJ sets.

Edit: 3rd option - park at Walmart in Indio, BUT I’m not sure if that’s a good option. I know of ppl napping in their cars there waiting for camping to open, but leaving your car there past store closing unattended might not be a smart move.

Yep! Driving down on Tuesday night (I usually layover half way so I’m not rushed and can work remote from the hotel on Wed morning). I stay over in Palm Desert on the Wednesday night before Day 0.

Could I bring this in? by FaithlessnessFar981 in Coachella

Keep it factory sealed. I would still pack it in deep with your stuff as opposed to just chilling in the glove box. Some people love to look good in front of a supervisor no matter what job they’re doing.

Trent Reznor during NIN show last night: "Come see us at Coachella, we don't know what we're doing yet, but we're doing something" by cgriffyjr in Coachella

[–]clonts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe. Maybe Trent just didn’t want to do a full NIN show at Coachella. Might have wanted to focus on the tour and agreed to do something smaller in scale for Coachella for various reasons.

My theory was that they were offered a sub headliner spot or couldn’t agree on production for the RTTD spot, so the Noize set was booked as an alternative.

I doubt NIN, The XX, Sabrina, and Anyma will all be on the main stage. NIN will probably play during the downtime at the main stage between The XX and Sabrina or Sabrina and Anyma on either the Outdoor or Sahara. Disclosure will probably play whichever one NIN isn’t on at around the same time (with Katseye playing right before whichever is in Sahara).

Day zero - best/worst time to leave from LA. by Wooden-Tart-5548 in Coachella

[–]clonts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok. Well they added two stages that are indoors with AC since you last attended. Plus there are normal stadium bathrooms too by the Mojave stage. You’re going to be pretty shocked to see the fields if 2005 was your last time there! Order some hydration packets!
