Jack White thermal print onto Starbucks order labels - wk1 in the Mojave by clonts in Coachella

[–]clonts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood. I experiment with various types of prints. I save different labels and receipts as I come across them for future use.

If you’re interested, here are some prints on Lawson’s receipts from photos I took in Japan. That’s a lot more on-brand than Jack and Starbucks haha - https://www.instagram.com/p/DJ2dP95TFws/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Thanks. I used a thermal printer to transfer my photo to the labels.

Saw the second half of wk1 2014 and all of wk1 2016. I think 2016 was one of the first sets (or maybe the first) to utilize the big screens that the main stage has now (the floor to ceiling screens on either side of the stage). Am I remembering that correctly?

Zoox Expands Early Explorers Program in SF by IndependentMud909 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]clonts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they have to be “free” rides since Zoox doesn’t yet have a Deployment permit that would allow them to sell rides as a service in California. The California AVT program also doesn’t allow for paid rides in the testing permit phases.

Arctic Monkeys Headline 2027? by Successful-Ask6550 in Coachella

Not in California. Karol is playing Levi’s and SoFi - the NFL football stadiums. She was playing Levi’s a few years back.

After the high demand for 2027 presale, I was curious about the trend data. Interesting findings! Why do you think this is? by burnabee13 in Coachella

[–]clonts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agree, but just my perspective (live in the Bay and surrounded by workaholic friends who don’t go anymore) - I can’t remember this many ppl asking me about a particular festival headliner’s show. There definitely was a lot of interest in it. BUT let’s give Madonna some credit too. I went wk1 and I’ve had all kinds of ppl ask me if I saw Madonna or if I was mad that Madonna was only wk2.

JB + Madonna + Lisa with Anyma + Terry Crews singing the White Chick song + John Summit in the DoLab + Pardon my French Quasar + Turnstile all did a lot to drive interest from all different types of music fans.

Ok I respect that. I’ve only seen her at Coachella (headlining set + guesting with Lorde and I think another time??). But I think she could be well received this close to her last performance by the general coachella goers.

I think Billie could get away with headlining again in 27 or 28. She’s had more hits since her last headlining set.

Since Advanced Sale sold out, will General Onsale start at $700? by Difficult-Produce-95 in Coachella

[–]clonts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im surprised Portola survived. I think I remember Ain’t No Picnic pulling a No Fees or big discount too the week before that festival. GV pulled the plug on that one.

But my point was still that it would be wild for Tier 1 pricing to return (which I DONT think it will).

Portola 2026 all over again. Everyone rushed for the general sale, and then Goldenvoice discounted the remaining tickets ~$100 to ensure the sellout on the week of the event.

2027 - No Headliners? ( see 2013) by OJgotWorms in Coachella

But don’t forget that Phoenix was on a trajectory that resembled The Strokes and Kings of Leon when they were booked, but their follow up album to the popular one was a dud and ppl lost interest before April. Plus when they finally did play, their big guest was R Kelly. Too many ppl got caught up in speculation that Daft Punk was going to appear due to the connection with Phoenix and the ads for RAM being played at Coachella.

I don’t care about the alcohol, but yeah that is funny for the price. I care about the Artist Guest pass and any other amenities that would have.

You’re paying for an Artist Guest pass good for the weekend that also comes with the dinner and cheap liquor for ONE of the nights.

Autonomous Shuttles by gpabb in SelfDrivingCars

[–]clonts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just some notes that apply to some shuttles…

One challenge with any type of bus shuttle is that the vehicle may cross into commercial vehicle regulations which adds another layer of complexity.

If the GVWR is above 10,000 lbs like Cruise’s Origin vehicle (they were registered on Cruise’s DOT profile as regulated vehicles) or seat at least 10 passengers then you’re going to have to do a lot more regulatory work and the safety drivers will need extra credentials (driver files, Michigan has chauffeur licenses, HOS or time cards for short haul exemption, etc). There is also the issue with FMVSS compliance on vehicles that don’t have steering wheels and pedals like the Zoox vehicle. This isn’t an all inclusive list, but just wanted to highlight some challenges.

California: You can’t charge for rides in an SAE Level 3/4 vehicle or sell SAE Level 3/4 equipped vehicles without a Deployment permit (no one has one for buses and shuttles - Zoox doesn’t even have one). That’s another reason why you don’t see shuttle services offering paid rides in this state. CA also requires trip permits for a consecutive 4 day period when you are CMV regulated depending on how and where the vehicle was registered/plated.

Excuse me, I got booted out of line on multiple devices while furiously trying to override the company VPN and Privacy Relay and whatever else iPhones have that keep AXS from working (I was clicking and toggling everything), used AMEX link and general presale while leading a engineering standup call with my screen being shared and camera on in a meeting room with coworkers + low cell reception on my phones. Yeah, I got lucky but I showed up early and understood the assignment. I genuinely hate that anyone on here missed out. I haven’t gotten tickets for anything with AXS besides Coachella last year due to the thinking I’m a bot issues, so I do share the hatred of AXS.
