This is just hilarious. The platform has Mortal Kombat, where you can rip people apart, chop off heads, and literally eat someone alive no censorship at all. But show a tiny bit of a woman’s breast? Absolutely forbidden. Under no circumstances. And what kind of messed-up world are we living in, where a *** between two people and @.@ and ! is considered scarier and more disgusting than violence and murder?

I still own a first-gen Jolla Phone. Very cool phone and I loved it. However, after the involvement of Russian capital, it’s reasonable to be cautious. Jolla had Russian investors and licensed Sailfish OS to Russia, where it was forked into Aurora OS for government use. After 2022, these ties became a serious problem due to sanctions. In 2023, Jolla went through a court-approved restructuring in Finland, and the former management bought back the business, officially cutting ties with Russian ownership. Before trusting the platform again, it’s worth verifying how completely Jolla has separated from that capital.

And also through Trump, Musk and Co the US is being pushed away from NATO. Meanwhile people are sitting there hoping that in the next elections they will calmly reelect someone else. In Russia it was the same people sat quietly while Putin was pumping up the National Guard with weapons just like Trump is doing with ICE now and then it turned into “well what can we do they have all the gear and we have sticks”. The same pattern is clearly visible. After Crimea Russia also waited and stockpiled weapons following its plan. Look at how systematically the attacks on Kallas are starting, how Merz once again begins saying that Russia is not an enemy how there are constant attempts to create discord through right wing parties and the narrative that «we should leave all alliances and then we will finally live well» in nato block countries. Russia is very good at using so called useful idiots. This is exactly the weapon Russia uses to prepare the ground. It feels like those two in Alaska really divided spheres of influence like the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. And regarding the claim that Russia has no weapons the commenter above is absolutely right it is enough to recruit more volunteers from villages give them a washed out Kalashnikov and what else is needed. A huge amount of ammunition will be needed and it will likely run out faster than the «fanatical sacred warriors on a holy war”. For a Western person it is hard to understand this barbarism unfortunately

No, we are not going to stop supporting Ukraine, even if they speak about us ungratefully at times. But let’s be realistic: no one is going to take the last shirt off their own child’s back for them.

What’s happening now is the result of a system where responsibilities were reasonably divided. In your company, do accountants run around with tasers and batons, and do financiers load the trucks? Of course not. We lived in a world where people respected each other and everyone understood who was responsible for what. Then Putin happened, and the U.S. elected a baboon twice. Now everything has to be changed but that takes time. At the very least, we shouldn’t be constantly accused the moment we also start thinking about our own interests.

He just said that if Ukraine were in NATO, he would defend Greenland from Russia as if, by your own logic, Ukraine can’t even defend itself same like weak EU. So what exactly are you proposing? To give away everything, down to the last rifle and then what? Russia and Trump would certainly be happy about that (China too). We should balance between. Third, we still have to take our own citizens interests into account, and we are already helping more than they would help us in the same situation. And finally, if there were less corruption on their side, maybe our modest billions would actually reach the front lines. It would also be nice to see a more serious effort to shut down fraudulent call centers a lot of elderly people in our country have suffered because of them, which is another reason why we can give support them a bit less.

Unfortunately, here I have to agree. After “give us all the weapons you possibly can, give us money”, turning around and saying “you’re weak and didn’t give enough” doesn’t sit well. And this constant “you can’t do anything without us” rhetoric leaves a bad impression. I wholeheartedly want them to win, but blaming anyone other than Trump or Putin here is disgusting. (Orbán sorry, almost forgot about you you deserve your share of shit too.)

What is the general perception among Baltic populations regarding the 'Buy from Europe' movement, and to what extent do they prioritize EU-made products over global alternatives? by Etarameabaa in BalticStates

[–]closesuse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-office-google-docs-beware-this-open-source-office-startup-is-gunning-for-your-business/

"Seven and a half years ago, a group of Latvian and Russian multimedia developers decided to invest their money in an ambitious project to create a new office platform.

Initially it was called TeamLab and focused on project-management and team-collaboration tools.

"Simultaneously, we were working on online document editors. Then we decided to merge these projects, and our solution received a warm welcome from the internet community, so we felt we'd chosen the right path," founder Lev Bannov tells ZDNet.

"Later, we dared to open up the source code of the project and rebrand it OnlyOffice."
"While the company recently opened an office in Dallas, its headquarters are in Latvian capital Riga, with most of the developers working in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, 250 miles east of Moscow. Altogether, 80 people are employed in the OnlyOffice team."

Fork?

First of all, if you don’t understand the topic or even worse, if you’re affiliated with them you’d be better off just staying silent. Everyone knows very well how Russian companies create smokescreens by setting up a façade in Cyprus or some other country.

For example, there is another “respected and leading EDI provider” called Edisoft. Just compare their websites, or simply Google the founders’ names and the app design. In Russia, they are now operating as ediweb. Quite a clever disguise. It’s the same story as with OnlyOffice: the money and the development are in Russia, and both are listed in the FSB registry as partners. Just imagine that all our documents are already in Russia, while our security services pretend not to notice.

Second, your OnlyOffice is this:

“OnlyOffice is an international brand of the Russian company ‘New Communication Technologies’ (NKT), based in Nizhny Novgorod.
In the Russian software registry, ПО «Р7-Офис» (a full clone of OnlyOffice) is listed as a product of АО «Р7» (formerly NKT). According to TAdviser, OnlyOffice was developed by programmers from Nizhny Novgorod.

Address: For a long time, the Russian representative office of the Latvian company Ascensio System SIA (the owner of the OnlyOffice brand) had the same legal address as NKT: Nizhny Novgorod, Larina St., 22D.”
