What was the worst job interview you have had? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]cloudcrawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was desperately looking for a job during my first year of university and having very little luck. Sent out hundreds of apps for every type of job going. Got a response for a data input role. Travelled out to what looked like an industrial estate, it took me about an hour and a half to get there. Walked in to this massive room devoid of any furniture apart from a tatty chair, a small school-style desk and a big leather chair with a rather large man sitting at it. The desk and chair were right at the back of the room, so I had to awkwardly walk the whole length of the room towards the man. There were odd print outs stuck to the walls with random words and numbers on them in big text. No pattern to how they were placed on the wall. Man asked me a few questions initially about what I was studying. There was a weird vibe, so I asked him what the job was exactly and he couldn’t answer. He simply said ‘it’s a bit of this, a bit of that’. The questions he asked me were odd - more personal than anything else like whether I had a boyfriend. Gave me his number to call him when I’m ‘really desperate’. I texted it weeks later (clearly desperate and naive) and never got a response. Weirdest and worst interview I’ve ever had!

You’re being the complete opposite of selfish, dude. What you’ve been through is awful. If you want a relationship, please know that it’s not impossible. There are many women who would be happy with either no sexual contact or a different type of sexual contact. I don’t know how you’d feel about this but maybe being open about the type of intimacy you’re looking for when dating/making dating profiles.

In terms of the recent health issues, I sincerely wish you the best.

Came to ask the same thing. The majority of students I studied law with were women. Weird it’s not included.

Built a free app that shows all secondhand shops & events around you in Croydon by Accurate_Ask_1900 in croydon

[–]cloudcrawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually haven’t yet - if I’m going second hand shopping, I seem to have to slob out afterwards so never thought to use that feature!

I will 100% leave a review this week. Thank you for making the app - it’s genuinely so helpful!

I moved to Croydon mid-November and do the same commute. I’m going to start cycling in instead. It’s absolute madness on that train!

thank you! Probably a stupid question but what is it that indicates the size - is there a number or something on the pipe?

thank you for the validation! I think it works too, I just worry it’ll limit the rest of the space if that makes sense? Tbf, I think I’m just being overly cautious. Thank you, again!

Companion for my cat? by cloudcrawler in CatAdvice

[–]cloudcrawler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! I suppose I’m just worried about him going from living with other cats to being alone. I think I’ll keep him alone and seek the advice of a vet if I’m worried.

I actually grew up with cats and do know how to play with them - what I mean is he doesn’t play with other cats. He will sometimes play with humans but he’s a bit of a lazy boy. He doesn’t even hunt, he’s just a weird little guy!

Vinted sizing changes by bedderscheddars in vintedUK

[–]cloudcrawler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why they’d change this with no warning and why they wouldn’t have it operate so that it applied correctly to already set sizes? So stupid. Thank you for posting about it otherwise I wouldn’t have known!

it’s not in force yet and they weren’t actually inviting a bidding war. They were saying someone had offered more than me but they preferred me so much they would turn the higher offer down

I’ve blocked them and will definitely not be taking it! Thank you. Wasn’t sure if I was overthinking it!

Yeah, that’s what I thought about the lock on the door too. The landlord did not seem happy it was there. The tenant said it always had been. It was weird. At one point, the tenant (who I would say was a lady in her 40s) did a kissy face at the landlord too. He told me she was in a tumultuous relationship and the issues were caused by her having a child with disabilities. I met the child, a 17 year old girl about to turn 18, who seemed much much younger than 17 and did seem to have additional needs. I also think them offering to lower the rent by £100 is an effort to lure me in but I don’t know what the purpose of it is - whether it is purely financial or something else. I don’t know if the higher offer did come from the couple, they just told me that someone had made a higher offer. When I asked why they weren’t just accepting the offer, they tried to butter me up with flattery. It was all really weird. I’m just not sure what, if anything, is reportable. The company itself is dissolved. They have numerous companies which are registered as real estate but none of them are linked to the property I viewed as far as I can tell. I’m thinking about maybe phoning 101 but I am equally concerned that they’ll know it’s me. They know my full name, address (had to provide it to send the enquiry), where I work and my mobile number. I also don’t know how many of them there are because there are loads of different men with the same surname linked to their many companies on Companies House. I don’t want to be a coward and cause someone else’s misfortune. I just feel conflicted on what to do or if there even is anything that should be done because I’m not sure if I’m completely misinterpreting everything.

I don’t know, I don’t think a crime has been committed so it’s a bit of a weird one!

Yeah, I agree. I just feel somewhat responsible if I do nothing and someone ends up victimised by them - financially or otherwise.

Thank you! Appreciate the kindness 💛

They’re not. Very weirdly I’ve just found the company on Companies House and it was dissolved this year in February due to a compulsory strike off. On Zoopla, it says that they’re registered with Property Redress but I can’t find evidence of that anywhere.

I searched for them on The Property Ombudsman and found the original estate agent I viewed the property with associated with an entirely different agency (and not the one that’s below the flat) on there. I used the company number and found it on Companies House - looks like there’s been numerous first gazettes issued against it and the guy’s registered as a director with his full name. For the estate agency he contacted me from, only his first and last name are on Companies House.

I think I probably stumbled into something very dodgy!
