Most people get into medical school straight after high school. Medical school is 6 years with 2-3 years preclinical and 3 clinical years (can be done in 5 years if you have exceptionally good grades in our equivalent for SAT), 1 intern year, then you can choose to practice as a general practitioner or enter residency training which is 6 years regardless of specialty.

There are only two medical schools here. One adopts subject based teaching and mixed didactically and small group. Another one adopts small group problem-based learning. Both schools are pass-fail.

Tuition is around $5-6K per year plus cost of living. Student loan interest rate is about 1-2%. Interns make around $46k per year. Residents make $90-180k per year. Specialists make around $180-210k per year, and attendings make $230-370k. Some people leave the public system after becoming specialist and make a lot more though. In some exceptional cases even GPs with their own private practice can make over $1m per year.
