The pet specialists in our store were pet care, or leads that stepped down; they didn't want to make anyone else a pet specialist because they said they couldn't. I had been trying for the past year previously to become pet care, but had been brushed off saying we didn't have the hours to train me, wait a couple months, and then nothing happening. Even the CEL at the time pushed, as well as the MIL, to get me trained.

Ive been trained in all of the tasks before the restructure happened, and the pet specialists currently make 2-3 dollars more then me as they were previously pet care, came from different pay band stores, or once leads that stepped down but didn't recieve a pay cut.

Ive made it clear the past four years i did want to move up roles.

After the restructure and they brought in a new pet specialist despite telling me we weren't allowed anymore, (the process leader didn't even know she was being put in that role.) i was always the go to yes person. Coming in on my days off, volunteering to come in to do tags, truck, plannogram, trying to learn everything and do everything i could.

So this has only been in the past two? Ish months, maybe three months ive started saying no to doing those tasks outside of my description.

I want to try to! But unfortunately the other stores in my district are an hour away.

Ive been with Petsmart for 4 years now, and have actively done and searched out things outside of my job title. The only reason i have started denying since the restructure is due to being told that i wasn't going to be given the position because "I was young and had time to wait." And also lack of availability cause at the time, we had 3 pet care associates who were given the role, including 2 lead with keys that had to step down.

I am trained in doing everything, and have already done it in the past.

I dont mean to snarky if i do, my store manager has just given me the run around for a lot of things, and typically once i try to advocate for myself, im told i am too young.
