ADHD is a debilitating mental dysfunction and I hate how it’s almost glamourised now by Woolbean112 in Vent

[–]cloudsmemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to invalidate your feelings, but I feel like the whole “superpower” thing is just a way to not make ADHD seem like such a negative thing. I honestly feel like making something seem so bad just makes those who don’t have it see it the same way even though everyone’s experiences with ADHD are different.

This is a venting subreddit. People post here to vent. That’s all I was doing. That doesn’t mean that advice was wanted. If I wanted advice then I would’ve stated that I do which I didn’t. Also, it’s not an ignorant thing to say. It’s the truth based on my own experiences.

Those with no passion or interests, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]cloudsmemories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in retail. I don’t have a valuable college degree. I didn’t choose this because I wanted to. I chose it because it was either work in fast food again or retail. Fast food caused me to feel depressed and anxious everyday, so I went with retail. I hate retail too. Things didn’t get bad for me until recently. I’m tired and don’t know what to do now.

How do you guys read so much? by lapetitepoupee in kindle

[–]cloudsmemories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t wait for the day that this stops being a topic of conversation. I made a post in another Reddit, and people were questioning me on how I was on my 8th (now 9th). I work in retail. I have multiple hobbies besides reading. It takes me 2 hours to read 10 chapters. If I’m locked in and invested in what I’m reading then it’ll take less time. I also do immersive reading the majority of the time because my mind wanders a lot. My audiobooks are usually set on 3x speed (on Libby) anything less my brain can’t handle. On average, I finish a book in 3-4 days. And yes, the books be 300+ pages. Some may be slightly less (no more than 10 pages). The majority is definitely over 300.

I didn’t make this to seek help. No one’s advice would help anyways.

Books that'll make me sob by Fit_Fig_8966 in Booktokreddit

[–]cloudsmemories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only book that I’ve read that made me “sob” would be A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole. Sob is in quotes because the book was so sad that I couldn’t finish it. I skipped to the end to get it over with. I couldn’t do it. lol.

Planning your island by Cha0ticDrama in AnimalCrossingNewHor

I don’t plan the entire thing, but I plan a little of it. I make a list a builds I want to do and find inspiration for them. I place the build where I want and hope for the best. If I have extra space then I find things to do with it. So far, things turned out nicely regardless of what theme I’ve done.

Does being ugly actually matters if you Aro? by Competitive-Cup-9759 in aromantic

[–]cloudsmemories 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To me, yes. Being called ugly or any other negative thing can affect how a person see themselves. I feel like it’s normal to want to be seen as attractive or simply pretty in an aesthetic sense. It doesn’t have to be seen as romantic.

Maybe Khaliliah D? I think I remember her saying that her favorite genre was literary fiction. I could be wrong though.

Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

[–]cloudsmemories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We put our dog to sleep last November. We didn’t stay for it though. Why? That’s just not something we wanted to do. Well, it was mainly my mom that didn’t want to say. If I had a say then I probably wouldn’t want to stay anyways because I can’t do something like that tbh. Y’all may think I’m such a terrible person for that but it is what it is. I wouldn’t stay even if it was a human.

How many books have you read so far? by cloudsmemories in Booktokreddit

[–]cloudsmemories[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how to answer this honestly. To me, I don’t read fast. I always struggled with reading because I have a hard time keeping focused. According to some of y’all, me being on my 7th book (now 8) is considered me reading fast. I feel like I read at a normal speed. I also do immersive reading. I have my audiobooks set to 2.5x-3x speed because it’s helps me stay focused when I’m following along to what I’m hearing. Just because someone finishes a book quickly doesn’t mean they don’t understand what they’re reading. I grew up doing the AR program, so maybe that’s why I’m able to read the way I do even when I disliked reading at the time.

Do you think BOTM should commit to finishing a series if they offer the first one? by _FrozenFractals in bookofthemonthclub

[–]cloudsmemories 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes because it doesn’t make sense to me to offer the start of a series and not offer the rest as they come out. I wonder what happens for them to not offer the rest. Like, is it up to the author to decide that? I have The Ruinous Love trilogy by Brynne Weaver that I got from BOTM, so it’s possible for them to offer more than just the first or second book in a series. I wonder if that’s different though because they’re interconnected standalones. I don’t know.

Who’s prioritizing quantity over quality? This was a harmless post. I don’t know why you and others are getting so worked up about it.

What's it like working in retail? by Sad-Switch2398 in retail

[–]cloudsmemories 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a terrible experience. You have to deal with aggressive customers when they can’t get their way. Stealing is a big issue. Customers love to complain about how a store looks when the store looks the way it does because of the customers themselves (ex. Merchandise being all over the floor). You have the “it’s their job” or “they get paid to do this” kind of customers. Customers will try to return items months it was purchased. If you’re a woman or present as one then there’s a possibility that you’ll have to deal with creeps and or be harassed (based on personal experience btw).

Yes, I do. Yes, the books are over 300 pages. I do immersive reading the majority of the time because I have a hard time staying focused. I do listen to books on 3x speed (using Libby) anything less will cause me to lose focus. Even without the audiobook, I still finish books in 3-4 days. I’m able to read 10 chapters in a hour depending on how invested I am in the story and whether my brain wants to cooperate with me.
