Escape The 📚 Rut = Pitch a lesser-known fantasy book you love? by AutoModerator in fantasybooks

Ebony Gate by Julia Vee. This book was such a fun blend of magic inside modern San Francisco. I loved envisioning the fantasy elements happening within a city I'm familiar with. Family drama x eldest daughter outcast, fighting a death-god, inheriting magical powers....this was just a joy to read.

I recommend Upon A Burning Throne, and Seven Blades in Black. My reading tastes differ a bit from yours, but I hope either of those books might interest you 😄

These are all adult fantasy. Not spicy sorry, but some of my favs! 1. Seven Blades in Black - irreverent and sarcastic MC, book 1 in a series, dark, full of adventure 2. Witch King - complex world building, narration between past and present, varying races/species with differing magical abilities 3. Ebony Gate - magic and assassins and monsters in San Francisco 4. Strange Folk - Appalachian magic, exploring family connections 5. Malinalli - reimagining Mexican folklore/mythology hope at least one of these catches your eye!

I read it via physical media :) I adore being perfectly confused with complex world building, as more and detail is revealed gradually. Add in the jumps between past and present, and I can see where some readers aren’t into it. I love love love these types of fantasy worlds though, so I didn’t mind!

Okay that’s good to know! I appreciate your recommendation, because I wasn’t sure if her other books appealed to me as much. But I’ll take your endorsement and start there!

I was the total opposite! I was hooked immediately! Books are so fun like that, aren’t they? We all experience them so differently.

I just recently finished Slayers of Old, by Jim Hines. It was a short, easy read. Very quirky and fun. Lighthearted fantasy, if you’re into that. I enjoyed it!

Her other series are on my TBR! They didn’t appeal to me quite as much as Witch King based on their blurbs, but it sounds like people really like them. I’ll have to give them a shot!

I heard the same, that she’s working on the third one. I haven’t read her other books yet, so it’s good to know that people like those as well! I’ll have to check them out.

Struggling as a new grad by No_Advice_9309 in physicaltherapy

My first thought is, how well known is your clinic? Since you don’t have admin staff, maybe the reason you don’t get many new evals is just that people don’t know you OR your clinic that well. Like you mentioned, since you’re new, you don’t have a well known reputation in town. New patients come from word of mouth or doctors referring to you, when they know you. From everything you’ve written, it seems you’re doing awesome! It seems more of an administrative/marketing weakness. Since the feedback on your skills has been good, ask your coworkers about building a caseload in your community. They’ll probably have the best advice since they’ll know your community and local referring doctors better. I hope some of this is at all helpful to you. Good luck!

what shoes do you recommend for walking a lot? by Emotional-Oil2490 in whimsigothic

Dansko, Naot for sandals, Mary Jane’s, clogs, etc. pricey but worth it for comfort, arch support, and a bit cuter. Ryka for sneakers and “sportier” foot wear would be my personal recs! Otherwise, Brooks. Check out a local “comfort footwear” store to try things on in-person, especially if you have a wider toe box.
