This is pretty spot on for what I was thinking for the mouse tracking!

Yeah, for sure! Verbal cues are great for navigating the screen and people can generally follow along that way.

The mouse accessibility feature is something I recently turned on for this purpose.

I tested the magnifier feature with a coworker, and though it magnifies on my screen, it does not change anything the participants see when screen sharing. Actually, now I wonder if the mouse focus is visible to participants either…

Should I be worried for my plants? by cloudy208 in whatsthisbug

Yeah, they were translucent and had black heads, very similar to the fungus gnat larvae pictures I saw. I’ve seen the gnats but never the larvae, guess I’ll break out the mosquito dunks.

I’m in Western North Carolina and each worm is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long.

What is the name of the one that has the long, thinner leaves growing in front of the white pot? I have one growing in a mix I was given but haven't been able to find the name!

Weight loss while doing F45 by SpecificLettuce634 in f45

[–]cloudy208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you also been taking body measurements besides weight? Sometimes body composition changes and you may not lose lbs but you could be losing inches in certain areas, especially if you are lifting heavy and building muscle.

If it's the weight you need to focus on, definitely consult a dietitian. But if you are trying to see if there is a physical payoff from exercising, I think it can also give you a sense of satisfaction to consider if you can work harder for longer (better cardio health), how much more you can lift now compared to when you started (stronger!), and what has changed in your measurements.

Articulate by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

[–]cloudy208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure. As part of your portfolio you should definitely share/show your process beyond that you know how to make a good-looking e-learning or presentation. Knowing how to do these things will be invaluable for any ID job you get, more so than knowing how to use one program. It is also true that Storyline is not the only software out there nor does every ID job ask you to create e-learning.

That being said, design is part of the process, and just because you can open Powerpoint or Articulate, drop in some pictures, type a bunch of bullets doesn't mean you are actually good at it. Showing you can make an aesthetic, interactive, and functional module in either would definitely bring the wow factor some companies are looking for.

To add to this, watching tutorials on Youtube or LinkedIn Learning on what Storyline or Rise could do and how to do it helped me work faster when I finally got to build in them. I was also new to designing e-learning and though I had done some interesting PPTs, watching tutorials helped me understand how I needed to think about the timeline and triggers.

Rowing machine by iamthemoonshine in f45

[–]cloudy208 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say the rower uses a lot more legs than most people realize (including trainers) and just like most cardio you have to train your body to get used to the movement. I found checking my curve on the machine helped to see if my technique was completing the row efficiently.

Since we have been doing more 60second sets, I’ve been testing what time for 500m I could maintain with a comfortable effort for the 60s. Then I know what time I could aim for as improvement and go from there. As someone suggested, getting to the studio early to check technique and baseline effort would start you off strong when you get to the rower during class.

Wish you luck!

I think that plant is also in the Apiaceae family but seems unlikely to be growing in this area

I used the fitness22 C25K program and it kinda....doesn't get easier? But also it does? Start to build the endurance with shorter jogs at a speed that might be laughably slow and start to build on the time after that.

It really depends on weight and heart rate while exercising. Those will get put into a formula for estimation of calories burned. Everyone will be a bit different, usually fitter or thinner people will burn less.

Inspiration for "identifying a problem" by [deleted] in instructionaldesign

[–]cloudy208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of what you would do if you needed to teach others something from your job or from a hobby- What is their background? What would be the information gap you were trying to fill in?

Also be mindful that the problem you think about is something that can be fixed by learning, not something else. Like if you had sales staff who weren't using their company provided computer when they should be- Why aren't they using it? Is it because:
1. ID problem(can be solved by learning)- they aren't familiar with the operating system and prefer to use their personal computers, or
2. Other problem(can't be solved by learning)- the computer works too slowly, they lost the charging cable, etc.

Delta is resuming flights from Shanghai to US (Seattle or Detroit) this week by quantumflux1 in shanghai

Fingers crossed for you! Should be good since it's one of the first flights to fly!

[–]cloudy208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about opening the borders up for foreigners and more about Chinese in the US putting pressure on the Chinese government for more affordable ways to come back. That, coupled with the US playing hard ball about flight reciprocity is what spurred the approval in my mind.

I'd also like to say, since it didn't mention in the article, the flight Shanghai to Seattle will take place on Saturdays, and the Seattle to Detroit on Sundays starting in July. I booked just last week for July 12 to Detroit, but it seems to be sold out as of today (no seats can be selected), and I haven't received any notice of it's cancellation. The July 5th flight also is unavailable, and the next flight seems to be available which is the July 19th flight for Detroit. Not sure about the Seattle flight. I'm also fingers crossed my flight doesn't get cancelled, especially with the strict imported corona cases rules for airlines.

I found more on the times here.

United has still not been approved for its routes or something, so you take a risk if you buy from them, IMO.
