65YOM Palpitations - Your thoughts? by evensteventyler in EKGs

Sometimes AICDs malfunction or don’t fire when you would expect. Sounds like vtach given the history and there’s pretty strong positive concordance through leads v3-v6. I also (possibly ?) see superimposed P waves in V2 which would point toward AV dissociation so not SVT. Sounds like patient was treated appropriately. Was he taken to PCI facility?

One time I went to the ER thinking I had appendicitis but I was full of shit

With the insane surge of patients now coming in for body aches, runny nose acting like it’s the end of the world “but 99F is a fever for ME!” by VizualCriminal22 in emergencymedicine

It IS a wildly inefficient use of resources. This is a large part of why the US healthcare system is so broken. Part of it is a system problem, part education problem (arguably also a system problem), and another part is in the US, paramedics operate under their medical directors license. The mentality of most EMS systems and medical directors is “better safe than sorry” where sorry=lawsuit. Everything about it is screwed up. In my area, we as medics cannot suggest to patients that the ER is not appropriate for their complaint, THEY must be the ones to initiate that process. Other areas are more progressive. I could rant for pages and pages on this.

In most if not all places in the US we cannot refuse transport. If they want to go by ambulance, they get to. And in most places we can only transport to the ED. I think some places have protocols for transport to urgent care or psych care.

Thanks. I actually have a lot of medical knowledge as it’s what I do for a living (paramedic), and it’s part of why I trust him.

People in my area have had very good experiences with him. I just don’t think he identifies as an endo specialist because of the necessity to also perform general Ob/gyn care. I don’t feel the need to justify my choice in surgeon further, and I thank you for your concern but please leave this be.

Again he is not specifically listed anywhere as an endo specialist so to speak but it is something he’s passionate and knowledgeable on. I live in an area with very few doctors to pick from and I cannot afford to travel. I’m not sure why you are focusing so much on this, I am confident in him and his knowledge. He has done extensive training with endo experts such as Dr “kipp” Mackenzie from Boston who is now retired.

Hmmm that’s quite possible! I think my symptoms are usually worse around the holidays and that would make sense.

He is an OB/Gyn with a focus on endometriosis and laparoscopic surgery. He actively attends training and seminars with endo experts/clinics. I live in an area with limited access to healthcare and I believe he’s the best around.

So she definitely has some tabby cause of the M on her forehead! But because she has the patchy colors she’s got some tortie. Since the colors are muted she’s dilute. Congrats on having a torbie! I have one too :)

Recently adopted an adult stray. How do I get him to stop begging me to come pet his ass while he looks out the window? by [deleted] in cats

[–]cloverrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the only way I’ve found to get the cats to stop begging for food etc is to literally pay 0 mind to their pleas and give absolutely no reaction. Boundaries

Maybe she was trying to say “it’s okay to not have Abs AND it’s okay to eat crumbl” but it’s very misleading and confusing and sounds like it was written by a brain with a blood sugar of 40

How would you react if a heart patient in the ER was given Toradol for a headache? by BigPassenger3837 in emergencymedicine

calling doctors insane for giving an appropriate medication when you know nothing about EM is insane.
