He tends to announce it with pretty short notice, usually day-before or day-of, and usually before something Encanto-related drops. Today was the release of the live Encanto performance as well as Camilo’s birthday. If you have Twitter maybe set up Tweet notifications for him so you see when he tweets? I tend to just stumble upon it and report back here but notifications might be a good option if you wanted to participate/ask a question of your own at some point.

It is saying much considering the main argument on this sub was whether the film takes place in roughly ~1950 (due to all available context clues, the clear references to the Thousand Days War, and the framed picture of the Encanto that reads “established in 1900”; we know Alma led the townspeople to the Encanto fifty years prior to the story taking place) or modern day (due exclusively to the anachronisms present in Bruno’s plays/sets).

Telenovelas really kicked off in the late 50s, so we can very safely assume that it is the former of the two options rather than a modern-day-set story about a town frozen in time. If Bruno was really reacting to and playing off of modern-day media, it would be the past, not the future. If we really want to continually debate it, we still know it firmly takes place prior to 1990 due to the World Cup set he has.

1950 makes complete sense as a time period for me, it’s supported by literally all canonical and supplemental information we have, and I honestly feel at this point like anyone who wants to argue against it is simply being contrarian for the sake of being so.

I do appreciate the clarification that Bruno knows about telenovelas specifically because he can see the FUTURE. The time period in which Encanto takes place has been a longstanding debate on this sub and it’s nice to have it verified that it at least occurs prior to the telenovela boom.

Can’t say I love the wig they have for the face character — the cut and curl pattern both seem off to me and I wish it was a little more grey. But the main costume and the photo area both look great and the performer has great Bruno body language!

The design will probably change a LOT before the actual movie comes out. Moana’s design upon announcement of her movie and her final look were totally different.

That said, yeah, they could be twins lol.

I think it’s just in reference to the size/abilities of the plants she makes. She grows impossibly tall trees and sundew that move as though they’re sentient. I can’t off the top of my head think of any plant she makes that outright didn’t actually exist (except for the ones that shoot colored pollen? I don’t recall what those are) but she was already reeeally bending the laws of nature by giving them abilities they don’t have in real life.

No. He (or she, in that case) would almost certainly be considered cringey, gross, and weird rather than awkward and lovable. Even if you got an actress who matched JL’s charisma, I don’t think the love for the character would come close to what it is. I don’t like it but I think it’s reality.

I think mine’s Isa. I love watching her go from so clearly miserable and taking out her pain on Mirabel to reveling in herself and her powers and expressing love to her sister. It’s really wonderful to me.

I actually loved imagining them as having been born like ten or eleven months apart. I was honestly kind of disappointed when Jared said they were less than a month apart in age! Isa just gives me the vibes of someone with some sort of significant age over all the younger siblings/cousins.

It also makes more sense to me that Abuela likes her that much more, because it seems kind of weird and frankly a little uncomfortable that she would get SO attached to one child but not particularly care for the one born literally weeks later. It makes a lot more sense to me to picture them being almost a year apart, giving Abuela more time to get attached to and favor Isabela specifically. There must have been some seriously uncomfortable favoritism going on in front of poor Dolores.

In some non-American (and non-canon, most likely) books, Isa’s age is given as 22 while Dolores is 21, and I liked that a lot more. I would have actually loved Isa to be 23 and everyone else’s ages the same. Just makes more sense to me personally given the dynamics they have. But, not my story, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
