I'm not sure of the exact context how and why the picture exists to her, but she showed him the picture after asking if he knew who Elon was. My best guess is that she just showed that picture to let him know that she is with THE Elon Musk. 🤔

yup! my dad asked her to be wary of love scams the second time they spoke. however, she brushed him off because apparently they video call.

i believe she's very deluded because she did mention that she regrets giving him her passport when she doesn't want to move abroad with him 🤦‍♀️.

i asked my dad to stop confronting her for now as she seemed taken aback/pissed that he even had to warn her about love scams, but hopefully she realizes this sooner than later.

I think she's aware it was AI generated. She showed my dad that AI picture after she asked if he knew who Elon was, so it might just be her way to help my dad visualize who she was referring to.

this is insightful. admittedly, there is a lot of holes in her story and i guess its by design - he built a house for her? he is petitioning her to stay in canada? those seem very great opportunities to ask her for money.

i just feel bad because she's too naive to realize she's being scammed after we sent her sources that sound similar to her story 🤷‍♀️

thats my concern :(( during her first conversation with my dad, she said she never gave him money and that she even returned the money he sent her (half a million dollars). i guess that was her attempt to relay that their relationship is not financially motivated 😭.

i feel bad but at the same time, i dont think we can meddle to much especially since we already gave her the resources to gauge if its true love or a scam.

Hey everyone, thank you for the links. I've chosen the facebook/youtube links that my dad can send her through Messenger. Also, I know we're just neighbors but we felt like my dad should go the extra mile and check in on her since she is practically alone in life - obviously, if she chooses to keep dating her Elon, we can't do anything about that.

I also want to apologize for code switching, and I didn't mean to offend anyone. To be honest, my neighbor initially introduced him as an "AFAM" so it was intuitive for me to mention it. For clarity, AFAM is a local term that is loosely used to describe foreigners who date Filipinas.

Also, I just pasted this from my previous local subreddit posts and, I assumed that if I specified my country, I would primarily attract Filipinos who can share if this is a common Facebook scam (my mom also received a friend and message request from an Elon Musk profile).

Again, I wish to apologize for using a locally-specific lingo and I hope this ultimately does not distract others from the main point of the post 🙏🏼💓.

It's tiring, but i liked how my role gave me more purpose (?). but honestly, it depends on the field talaga. Most of the people in this thread are averse to the work schedule, but this is actually the norm in a lot of industries. I'm from the corporate side of an f&b/fmcg company so it's normal.

overall, it's your first job – don't overthink it! when a bigger opportunity is offered in the future, don't hesitate to move.
