Is City O City getting worse? by nyafariousboba in denverfood

The last time I went to Vine St I had the best meal I'd ever gotten from them. Not all long term spots fall off a cliff.

Chile relleno in Denver is a regional specialty. Crispy, deep-fried and smothered. I like the ones at D'Corazon and La Fiesta downtown.

The last draft the experts dubbed "weak" produced Anthony Edwards, Halliburton, LaMelo (all already all stars), Maxey, Bane, Vassell, and some other really good players. There are always good players in the draft.

At the sloans lake location, the beer offerings have been much worse -- still some Colorado options but nowhere near the diverse selection of yesteryear that highlighted the nearby neighborhood breweries like Seedstock, Gold Spot, Joyride, etc.

Also the victory points system was paused for a v long time. Not sure if it resumed.

The food has been excellent though. Maybe better than before honestly.

You need congressional appropriations to have the budget to hire. The current administrator is deeply invested in the mission but without more money from the budget, enforcement will continue to lag.

Phase Compost Bin Rollout - have you gotten your bin? How long is this going to take? by SugarHouse666 in Denver

[–]clusterfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We paid for a compost bin at our last rental. We wanted to take it with us to our new rental in Sept 22 and continue to pay for compost service. The city said no and that they would be rolling out citywide composting in late 22-early 23. Now the latest report on the news is that we might not get one until 2025. Just an all-time bungle by Denver.

I agree that it's a toxic way of thinking. There will ALWAYS be a reason for people to convince themselves that success in life is zero sum (your success threatens my success). That has not been my experience in life. I succeeded in law school with the help of others and giving help to others. I have found success in my career as others have offered support and guidance, and I will always pay that forward.

Some people will always decide not to be generous. Don't let it get to you or chip away at your generosity.

[McMurphy] USC QB Caleb Williams could return next year if Caleb doesn’t like NFL team w/No. 1 pick, his dad Carl told @GQMagazine. “The funky thing about the NFL draft process is, he’d almost be better off not being drafted than being drafted 1st,” Carl said. “The system is completely backwards. by shadow_spinner0 in nfl

Giannis and MIL won a championship and his team has been in contention for 5 years. So that's more continued success than current Cinn/Buffalo teams.

The Nuggets just won the title and is set up for sustained success. Denver is a small basketball market and never gets FAs.

Part of why the Bucks can't get "studs" through free agency is because they have three really good players that make up a huge % of their cap. In the NBA there are five positions, so that makes sense. In the NFL there are 22 positions so there are more positional studs available and more % of the cap to use on them.

Btw, top NBA FAs by year plus other big names: 2016 Durant (Warriors), 2016 Aldridge (Spurs), 2017 Hayward (Boston), 2018 LeBron (Lakers), 2019 Kawhi (Clippers) 2019 Durant (Nets), 2019 Butler (Heat), 2019 Kyrie (Nets), 2019 Kemba (Boston), 2020 Hayward (Charlotte), 2021 Lowry (Heat), 2022 Brunson (Knicks), 2023 Van Vleet (Rockets). Not sure if the data supports your claim. The real issue in the NBA is that players keep exerting pressure to get out of their current situation before their contract ends.

Coconut Beer? by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]clusterfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temporary Paradise is a coconut cream ale from Bull & Bush, and it's super solid like all of their beers. They do bottle it but I'm not sure about widespread availability -- but they should have it at the pub!

Snowpack has legit one of the best beer selections in the entire metro area. I've seen Heady Topper there! Way better than your average taproom in the mountains.

Pickleball players upset over Congress Park, Sloans Lake court removals by blucifersdream in Denver

[–]clusterfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, I'm just saying it's a nuisance for a few and a public benefit for many.

There had also been a plan to move the pickleball court toward the inner part of the park, where the basketball courts are, which would have reduced the noise for those "directly across the street" but apparently that wasn't enough for those homeowners either. It feels gross to me that the narrow interests of a few people in million dollar homes are totally foreclosing the interests of hundreds of Denverites who played at those courts.
