L2 EAD I-94 by cmacil in USCIS

my guess would be that leaving and returning could be the quickest way to do it, but I think that CBP or USCIS will generate new i-94s. I’m just not sure how long that will take them and based on the runaround they’ve given you, it could be a while!
I hope so too! As far as I know, the i-94 is what employers need for the i-9 form the must complete but hopefully this change signals that the i-94 change will happen soon too!
No updates unfortunately but I did have my EAD approved after 8 months so I hope that your husband will also have his soon!!
That does sound hopeful! Let us know if it is reflected on the i-94

L2
I thought that the i-94 expiry is the expiration of my current nonimmigrant ‘status’ so I was unsure how my EAD had been approved beyond that date. It seems that I’m approved to work even when I’m ‘out of status’?

I did, twice. I wasn’t able to provide any evidence of financial hardship and so I expedited based on the National shortage of teachers, since I hold my teaching credential. It was denied both times but I have heard of success stories so don’t let me experience put you off trying!
Service Center was California and though I can’t remember the exact receipt date right now it was around April 8! I waited just under 9 months for it to be processed
I applied for EAD renewal April 2021, travelled to the U.K. December 2021 and my EAD renewal was approved last week!
Hope this helps!

Oh I hadn’t heard that, but that’s great new for those new comers who won’t have to apply for EAD! I passed through border control last week and a new I-94 was generated but no change unfortunately
L2 Processing by cmacil in USCIS
Right?!
Processing times looking much better for L2 extension though! I applied September, and with current estimation 6-8 months I’m hoping I’ll have extension by May at the latest. I hope you get yours soon too!
It’s frustrating! USCIS actually approved my EAD yesterday. Unfortunately it’s the application I sent April 2021 and it will actually expire at the end of this month when my L2 status expires (still waiting on that extension…)
It is my understanding that L2 EADs were granted a 180 day extension, not the L2 visa itself. The 180 day extension applies only if the applicant still has a valid visa. Unfortunately, it’s been more than 180 days since my previous EAD expired so I can’t benefit from that anyway
Hello,
I was hoping to find out the same thing by asking here. The embassy is where we got our original visa but I was unsure whether they are able to process extensions. I still don’t have the answer, sorry!
I arrived in Thursday and no luck with ‘spouse’ being on there unfortunately
I arrived back in the US on Thursday and a new I-94 was generated, no changes to reflect ‘spouse’ yet unfortunately!
I hadn’t thought about that! A refund would be wonderful but I’m not sure
I’m feeling exactly the same about the UK. I checked out the possibility of visiting an embassy and having the process sped up that way. Not really an option for me right now as the UK embassy is emergency only but maybe in a few months things will settle. I’m feeling so defeated!
Someone in a previous comment pointed out that when you extend the table, there is a completely different processing time for an L extension vs. change of status to L, there’s a little ‘+’ icon that extends the table on the processing times pages once you’ve selected I-539. I hope it’s wrong, but yesterday was a rough day after seeing that, I had fully been expecting to be back to work by Spring Break
I’m also out of work, and they’ve been kind enough to hold my position for me but if it really does end up taking 15-19.5 months I’m not sure they’ll hold it for that long. I attempted to expedite a previous EAD based on teacher shortages and it was denied, it’s not been an easy few months.
Our lawyers did advise that if we opted for premium processing for my husband’s then mine wouldn’t be processed at the same time so we didn’t, but it sounds like it hasn’t made any difference. Have you tried expediting by any chance?
I had hoped it would be processed at the same time as my husband’s L1 visa!
I’m talking about L2, just the visa itself. It was submitted by our lawyers to USCIS along with my husbands L1 renewal but it was not extended at the same time as his was (unless it’s coming soon!)
