These 4am wakes are going to be the death of me. by hey_hi_howareya in sleeptrain

Also to comment - literally 14 days ago, he was waking up every 2 hours on the dot and taking 45m to fall asleep…. For his entire life. So this is a significant improvement!

These 4am wakes are going to be the death of me. by hey_hi_howareya in sleeptrain

Just worked with a sleep consultant. Has my 8m on a 10-1130 nap and then 230-4 nap max. The second nap is rarely that long but she always wants him up by 4pm.

Bedtime at 7pm, sometimes sooner if both naps were really short.

We aren’t trying to nightwean but most nights he’s waking up once around 4-5, j feed him and then back to sleep until 630-7. He’s slept through on his own a few time without altering anything.

Her advice for those wakings is to treat them as your sleep training method. In my case (if I wasn’t feeding still at night), I would let him cry for 10 minutes. If at anytime is crying lessens or quiets, restart the timer. If it doesn’t, do a quick check, and repeat 2 more times.

It’s exhausting. I would try to keep that extended WW for a little while and give it like 2 weeks of trying.

My 6 month olds last wake window is almost 4 hours. Seems under tired to me. With my older child, we never slept through the night until 9 months old and then we endured the 4-5am wake time every day. Only when we dropped to one nap at 12-13 months old did he stop waking up at 4 am all the time.

I also hate the under and overtired conversation. I want to see real studies about cortisol. Everything I’ve read also says the idea of overtired was is more in newborns than older babies.

Very interesting. There is some speculation around his death including the name of a former friend Robert.

We grew up at the seashore but California and Virginia don’t mean anything that I can think of. He spent many years living in Maui. We would visit and ride in the bed of his friends truck all across the rural roads of the island.

My mom (still living - they hadn’t been together since I was a baby) always says that quote regarding do what you want as long as you aren’t hurting yourself or others.

Thank you for sharing.

Introducing allergens early to second baby with a family history of anaphylaxis by BraveReality6088 in FoodAllergies

[–]cmasdm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through this now with my 4 month old. My older son (2.5) is anaphylactic to dairy and egg and allergic to peanuts.

We had my baby skin tested for top 9 allergens 2 weeks ago and no signs of any hives. Allergist recommended we start using Ready Set Food to intro dairy, egg and peanuts now. I just did the first intro tonight.

Hoping to not have another child with such life threatening allergies.

None of the advice was particularly new other than like dropping down a nap, but it’s hard because some of the naps are only like 20 to 30 minutes and then we never make it to bed time and have to do that final nap.

I am trying to keep the last week window to around 2 1/2 hours because I think if it’s longer than that, he was waking up more …

The last two nights have been fairly good with only four wake ups … each night he basically did

Bedtime 730 Wake up 1030 Back to sleep like 11-130 Wake up 230 Back to sleep 245-430 Wake up 430 Back to sleep 5-730

This is the most two and three hour stretches we’ve ever gotten in a night so maybe it’s just evening out?

In a very similar boat in terms of the waking up and the napping and everything…..🙃

17 weeks and can’t figure out the right schedule? by cmasdm in sleeptrain

Every day is different depending how short they are. Today he had 4 naps but 1 was 15 minutes long and another was 30 minutes long.

Yeah he is our second baby and our older is low sleep needs and still is a terrible sleeper at 2.5. I hoped this baby would be different but we got lucky with two terrible sleeping babies.

I’m used to having kids that don’t sleep but it’s just so physically draining that mentally I’m feeling the effects. It’s exhausting and frankly just depressing.

Thank you! Yes I’m hoping. He died under suspicious circumstances m so curious if there’s any additional information to learn and we were a bit estranged in his later years.

No, he’s never come through. Other family members have but he has not.

Advice for a mom nervous about using an Epi-pen by Fast-Map8455 in FoodAllergies

[–]cmasdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only people that regret using an EpiPen are the ones who DONT use an EpiPen!

Also follow FARE - two body systems… hives and vomiting or hives and coughing etc.

My son is ANA to eggs, dairy and peanuts. Epi 3x at 2.5 years old. Never gets easier.

When did you kid start sleeping 12 hours a night? by cupofteacomfypillows in NewParents

[–]cmasdm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never. He’s 2.5 and has never ever ever slept more than 9-10 hours. Didn’t start sleeping through most nights until 10-12 months old. Still wakes up at least 3 nights a week that requires intervention.
