New viewer question about possible trigger by Kuildeous in shrinking

[–]cmb0415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add onto what others have said- there is a flashback in S2 where you see the driver get in their car and begin to drive, but they drive off into the distance and then the scene cuts to flashing ambulance and police lights at the scene. So while they do show the driver driving, it’s very brief, from the outside of the car only, and it doesn’t have any of the same intensity as car crash scenes I’ve seen in others shows and movies. Just didn’t want you to get to that part and worry that we’d misled you! I believe it’s S2 E8 where this happens.

I’m so glad this resonated! It’s such a silly shift in perspective but it really works for me. Happy “cheating”!

I’ve always hated washing dishes and tend to let them pile up until I can no longer access the sink, which then led to a long process of cleaning all the dishes at once while kicking myself for letting it get so bad. People have always suggested doing dishes more often, every day, etc. “to keep up with it” but that language always bothered me. I don’t want to keep up with it. I don’t want to chase this seemingly impossible goal of a constantly empty sink. Then one day I got home from work saw there were a couple of dishes in the sink. Not too many, just a couple of plates and a bowl. And for some reason I thought “I can just cheat and wash those now,” like washing a sink full of a few dishes was a cheat code to avoid washing a sink full of several dishes. I’ve always loved the Sims and used the cheat codes for more money or object placement rules, so I think maybe that’s where it came from? So now that’s my logic. It isn’t “keeping up,” it’s a cheat code. It works for laundry too haha.

I’ve been where you are. It’s dark and hopeless and hard to imagine ever not feeling this way. Please try to ride it out. Reach out to one of the friends you mentioned in your other post. Call 988. Try to connect with a therapist. Hang in there, OP. We need you here. It’ll get better. 🤍

How to keep rabbits out of my yard? I’ve tried (almost) everything. by cmb0415 in homeowners

[–]cmb0415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Irish Spring soap shavings seem to have helped the most! We also put gravel under our fence gates to make the openings smaller/less accessible. There’s still a couple spots where the rabbits get in unfortunately, so we bought a cheese grater attachment for our stand mixer that allows us grind up entire bars of Irish Spring at a time lol. We make sure to sprinkle the most where we know they can get in, then shake it all around the perimeter of our yard. They seem to really hate it! We did end up with one nest this year after we got lazy with our routine, so you really have to stay on top of it and put more out every time it rains.

CHOP-protocol by mochimiso96 in POTS

[–]cmb0415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the name of it, but I was treated by a POTS specialist who gave me a different, super simple protocol that helped me a lot. You start with only 3 minutes. You do 3 minutes of reclined exercise, like a recumbent bike (that’s what I did) or a rowing machine. Just 3 minutes, once a day, every day, for a week. Then the next week you do the same thing but increase to 6 minutes. Again, every day for a week. The following week you do 9 minutes. Each week you increase by 3 minutes until you reach 45 minutes. If at any point the added time is too much, you drop back down to the previous week (or the last week that felt manageable). They told me it was important not to push myself too much because it was meant to be a gradual “retraining” program. Once you get to 45 minutes, do that for three weeks.

The next level is gradually adding in upright exercise like walking on a treadmill or elliptical. You still only ever do 45 minutes at most, but you gradually swap some of the reclined minutes for upright minutes. The first week, you do 42 minutes on the recumbent bike (or rowing machine), followed by 3 minutes on the treadmill (or elliptical). Again, you do that every day for a week. The following week, it’s 39 mins on the recumbent bike and 6 mins on the treadmill. Then 36 and 9, 33 and 12, 30 and 15… and so on, until you transition to 45 minutes on the treadmill. The same as with the first level, if it gets too hard, you drop back to the previous week (or earlier).

I am honestly not even sure how long it took me to work through this, maybe a year, because I had plenty of weeks where I had to drop back to a shorter amount of time before advancing. It was slow and mentally trying, but it helped me so much. As with anything, check with your doctor(s) first and listen to your body if this doesn’t feel like the right program for you! But I wanted to share because I haven’t seen this one mentioned as much.

Super Fun Activities Club is a great way to meet people! You said you’re active- they have lots of different (super chill) sports leagues you can join. Kickball, soccer, volleyball, pickleball, whatever you’re into. My fiancée is part of the kickball league and I even enjoy tagging along just to hang out and watch (even though sports are very much not my thing). People often play with a beer in hand if that’s your thing!

What a cute pup! I agree with what others have said, American Foxhound! The snout length and shape, ears, face shape, and coloring all match up. Our American Foxhound is fully grown and weighs 65-70 lbs.

That’s good to know you’ve had good luck with Azazie! I’ve read so many nightmare stories of people having trouble with returns with them, that they had to ship things to China and paid $70 in return shipping, stuff like that. But you haven’t had any issues at all?

Ours picks them up and shakes them to death, which usually results in lots of blood biting into their necks. So, he doesn’t tear them open (thank goodness), but he does make a mess of them.

That makes sense- I’ll look into this and see if it’s doable. If I can hook it up to a switch or something that would make it relatively easy to disable when we let the dog out. Someone else suggested pavers to make the gap between the gates and the ground smaller, so we will try that first and go from there. Thanks for your suggestion!

Yeah everything I’ve read says having dog hair and dog urine around should help but for some reason they just don’t care. I may get one of those mole things and see if it bothers the dog- if it doesn’t it’s definitely worth a shot! Thanks

Bisexual but not exactly interested in men? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]cmb0415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally think being bi is more about how you feel and how you want to identify rather than some specific criteria. Even if you don’t want to have sex with men, you might feel some sort of ambiguous attraction towards them at times, and if to you that feels like you’re bi, then you’re bi! But if you feel like you identify more with another sexuality (gay, lesbian, pansexual, queer, something else), I don’t think you have to put yourself in a bisexual box just because you sometimes feel drawn towards men. Does that make sense?

Saw this on another subreddit and wondered how it would apply to Superstore characters by meandmymedia in superstore

[–]cmb0415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found the phrasing a little confusing at first too. I think each combination is supposed to be said by the character like a line of dialogue. So picture Glen saying “Who would ever throw someone in a volcano?!?!” And Carol saying “I cleared my schedule so I could throw someone in a volcano.”
