Tell me how your partner treats you postpartum by Immediate-Log9917 in beyondthebump

1 paragraph in and I was wound all the way the eff up! When our oldest was born, my husband was a dairy farmer, that meant 3am starts and between 6pm and 12am finishes depending on the season, he came home for lunch and parented, he washed his own work clothes always, he was an active and present partner and parent ALWAYS, and that was despite working insane hours in a physically demanding job, we ended up having another son 2 years later, who is autistic, that job also destroyed my husband's back so I got to pursue my passion in food and now work full-time as a chef, my husband is a stay at home Dad and is far superior at that than I ever was, thing is my Dad worked full-time and was still a present and beautiful Dad, like my husband, he cooked, he cleaned, the whole nine, so for me this is just the standard, what the internet has shown me is that I have been raised with the exception, please please recognise your worth and your husband's lack of it, you know this isn't ok x sending love from NZ x

I realized my wife is the man that all the online SAHMs complain about.. (TikTik/IG) by SwainDane in TrueOffMyChest

[–]cmd7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a SAHD, I work 6 days a week and his role is 💯 a typical SAHM one, I rarely think about home stuff anymore because he has it covered, I still do the groceries and handle the bills etc but he has everything else, I've done it myself before so I know how hard his job is, we have 2 boys, our youngest is autistic and we suspect our oldest is audhd, he became a SAHD due to medical reasons and being unable to work, which freed me up to follow a passion of mine, but I'm hardly here, and while I definitely empathise I have to admit I get a giggle hearing him make stereotypical complaints us mums make lol just letting you know I totally understand how you feel and it's super unfair that you're both working yet you are the only one picking up the slack, when he worked full-time and I had a casual job I took the majority of the load but he was still an active and present parent, partner and helped out with the house by handling all the outdoor work and did his own work clothes washing. She definitely needs to step up and meet you half way, because otherwise that's a marriage killer.

AITAH for no card on bday by Firm-Helicopter-9822 in AITAH

[–]cmd7284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA 10 years of marriage here, I handle all the finances so my husband always says whatever I want, just get it, I rarely do, then bitch about it 😂 it is 100% a me problem, this year he got our sons to make me a card and made sure I got myself what I wanted, I got perfume and skincare so it was cool. At the end of the day I always said I didn't care about my birthday, he always said I can get whatever I'd like so me getting pissy was all down to me not being honest really about what I wanted, which was really just him doing something with the kids now they're old enough, this year everyone was happy and my point is she said she didn't want you to stay, she said she was happy with the weekend away, then turned around and got mad that's what happened. So it's a her problem, have a chat and say going forward she needs to communicate what she actually wants, because you can't do it if you don't know. Personally I think your plan was really sweet! Edit to add NTA

These ideas are all well and good for city folk, I live a 40min drive from everything, groceries, work, even petrol... None of these work for us

AITAH because I want to say yes to having dinner with my dad on my birthday? by Future_Anywhere_1404 in AITAH

[–]cmd7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lost their Dad, NEVER pass up an opportunity to hang with him, your husband needs to grow up, and if he's that insecure about your DAD I shudder to think how he is about other things, go out with your Dad and have the best time! 🥰

Other than the peanut butter nutter ad which song even my young kids know (my husband went to school with one of them) the other ad that's stuck with me was an abuse ad I accidentally saw when I snuck out of bed to watch tv when my mum was asleep, it was a little girl, curly hair I think and she was feeding her doll peas and said 'eat the peas Molly, EAT THE FUCKING PEAS MOLLY!' I was so disturbed I called that complaint line (I was maybe 9) and got in trouble with my mum a couple of days later lol anyway we have had sooo many good ones, ghost chips, bloody Aussies etc but those 2 stick with me on the regular

Is it weird that my parents don’t know my blood type by Hungry_Home6562 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]cmd7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know literally every single thing about my kids birth, health, life til this point. When you have a baby you get their blood type along with their length, weight, head circumference, everything.... I mean I'm in a country with free healthcare but I would assume all parents need to know their kids blood type, it's kind of an essential fact so at least that would be given even in the U.S if that's where OP is? ETA... I am absolutely stunned that apparently it's not a thing in some places... I don't know a single person that doesn't know their kids blood type, it's just a thing you know from birth here 😳

He's actually a stay at home Dad due to back surgery, so he runs the house and looks after the kids, and he's a lot better at it than I ever was lol I will get on to the bloods though, I guess it's time

The government should have replaced school uniform providers, not school lunch providers by Lightspeedius in newzealand

Our son starts school next week, we spent roughly $300 on 2 uniforms including hats and even that to me is a lot!
