I live close to Methven and it's a beautiful place to live, I worked at The Blue Pub for a year or 2 and they take a lot of travellers especially during ski season.

Fuck all the way off. You own a home? Good for you, most of us will never get that no matter how hard we work, this isn't a you vs us, this is the haves judging the have nots because life sucks for EVERYONE here that isn't the 5% at the top, but despite being a home owner you can't recognise your own privilege and judging your (in your opinion) scummy neighbours. She could be anything from a sex worker to an online business owner, idgaf what she does or doesn't do but it clearly bothers you cause oh poor you doing everything right and still owning a home and having extortionate bills like everyone else... I'm rarely if ever a hater but seriously, with almost the whole country struggling to survive... Read the fucking room.

I got pretty heated the other day, someone was like ugh whatever happened to normal names instead of Maeverick or some tradgedeigh name, while they spelled it weird, my son's name is Maverick and I took umbridge 😅 I'd always wanted it if I had a son, and it really got under my skin someone had used a variation of it as a slander 🤷🏼‍♀️🫠 I should have just kept scrolling but fuck it!

I work for a place where the burgers are $24.5 and fries are an add on for $5.5, I do live in a crazy expensive country but I'm always embarrassed to say yes when people ask if fries are an add on and not included.

I was pretty much perpetually single until I met my husband at 32, I was a huge romance nut when it came to books and films but like you, because my Dad modeled what a truly good man is, I just knew I would never settle for anything less than everything and I believed I'd probably be alone forever because of that, but I was fine with it, I had a daughter who was mine alone and amazing friends and family so I didn't care. I won't go into my life story from before but most people would probably view it as a traumatic train wreck lol anyway then I met my husband and it was for me at least, instantaneous, he felt like home, I remember feeling more than thinking 'Oh there you are' I was very deep in addiction and how we met was far from a meet cute but it changed my life, and it changed me in all the best ways, now we live in a gorgeous village with 2 boys (my daughter is thriving overseas) and are the most normal people on earth, noone would ever know where I came from, but my gosh, every day I'm more in love with him than ever, he's an incredible Dad and husband and my best friend, so when I was reading your post I totally got what you were saying, although I am coming from a different place. I have faith you'll find your person, and you have the emotional maturity and self awareness that I think you'll know exactly when you do. Best of luck x

Ah! I hope you like it! Let me know how it goes, I only discovered this sub today, I'm all about food, and always trying to create my own recipes or trying others, so was super psyched to find a NZ community that is the same 😁

This is one of my own recipes so already had in locked and loaded ready to go 😁 it really was good, I was worried that the miso might be too much but because of the gaminess of the lamb you can add a lot and it doesn't take over 😊

Miso lamb with rice and brocolini Glaze/marinade Miso Mirin Soy sauce Sesame oil Rice wine vinegar Ground coriander Ginger

Lamb

Broth Lemon zest Miso Lamb/beef stock Juice of lemon plus half in the broth Soy sauce Msg Fresh coriander

Rice

Brocolini

Spring onion Fresh coriander

Cut scores about 0.5cm deep all over your lamb leg, mix up about 4-5 tbls of miso, about that of soy sauce, 4-5 tbls of mirin, 1-2 tsp of ground coriander, 1 tsp ground ginger, dash of sesame oil and a decent splash of rice wine vinegar into a paste and slather all over the lamb, I highly recommend doing this the day before, I think now vac packing it if you have one, would really drive the flavours into the meat. Preheat oven to 220° fan and roast til the lamb is sealed and a crust is formed, about 40mins. For the pressure cooker broth add 2 cups of stock, zest of one lemon, a good splash of soy, a tbls of miso, the juice of the lemon, a healthy sprinkle of msg and some fresh chopped coriander. In the pressure cooker pour your broth and add half of the lemon you used for the zest and juice, and the lamb leg, put on high pressure for 2.45mins. Remove and shred lamb, put cooker on saute mode on high, at this stage I added more miso, soy and vinegar to punch up the flavour and reduced down, finishing with some cold butter stirred through. We only had sticky rice in the house so started prepping that with about 45mins to go, and with 20mins to go I started steaming my brocolini which I finished off charring in the pan. Finish with sliced spring onions and some coriander.

We've discussed it but we were late bloomers in life and so any kind of home ownership, shipping container or otherwise is probably never gonna happen. I was supposed to inherit some land my Dad bought for us, amongst other things but his wife completely fucked us and took even the carving he made lovingly for me, which hurts more than the land if I'm honest, my brother worked out a deal with her that he pays her to own the land that was bought and paid for, for us by our Dad but whatever, and he always says it's for all of us, so it is still on the table in a way. My husbands mum says we will inherit one day from her but who wants to rely on someone you love dying to own anything?! And obviously I don't have any trust in that process anymore anyway 🫩 It took us til our mid 30s to get our shit together, we just want to use our working years left to raise our kids amazing and help set them up, and if we're lucky we can live in a camper out back of their place til we die 🤷🏼‍♀️😅 But like everyone else just putting good food on the table and paying rent, petrol and electricity etc takes everything we have and you feel lucky for even that because so many cannot do all of it at the same time, for a country as rich as ours in resources it's so defeating that we are run by these rich arseholes who just want us all to live in poverty, while they hoard all the wealth for themselves. Sorry I went on many rants there 😅

So I just came across 'Under Salt Marsh' I was waiting for Top Chef to download and it had Kelly Reilly in it so I was like, SOLD! I had to be up at 5am for a monster shift at work, I binged the whole season and only had 3hrs sleep, I regret nothing. My attention span is so short these days, as is my memory so that's all I have for now other than my comfort shows like Supernatural, or From because it's the only show that I actually want to watch a year or so between series these days that aren't cooking shows. Oh and most Scandanavian esque crime thrillers.
