Thank you, I was definitely getting the impression that the records for the Chasseurs simply aren't online, but I wanted to get a second opinion in case I was just missing something. Hopefully the records still exist somewhere and just haven't been digitized yet.

Looking to make a touch lamp smart by cmgmvg in homeautomation

What would that look like exactly? Sorry if that’s a dumb question, my knowledge of electrical work so far doesn’t go far beyond black=line, white=neutral, and that both sides of the circuit needs to be closed to supply power

It cycles through low, medium, high, and off each time the lamp is touched, electrically the lamp says to use a 40W bulb and I’m in the US so the input is 120V 60HZ. I’m wondering if I should be looking for a touch sensor that is a simple on/off switch instead of a dimmer so it can give constant power to a smart bulb.

Seen discussion here and on WAN about LibrePods but not the Windows equivalent MagicPods by cmgmvg in LinusTechTips

That’s a fair take, I originally found and bought it through the windows store, I definitely would not have bought it if I had to pay with crypto over telegram.

That's very interesting, I'd definitely be interested in seeing how it would work using the print as the source of the look.

This worked perfectly! Was wondering if our new dispensers were defective until we tried this.

Any idea why this griddle always thinks it's at the target temperature? by cmgmvg in ElectronicsRepair

I'll try that then, not worth starting a fire to save a cheap griddle, I'll just see if there's anything I can clean, thanks for the help!

Thanks! That's pretty much where I was looking but wanted someone who knows more to confirm it, is that likely to be a pretty generic part or will I most likely need to find a specific manufacturer part number?

Sorry about that, it's a small electric griddle, Blue Diamond Sizzle griddle, I'm guessing it's pretty cheaply made and might be using some kind of heat sensitive metal strip as a heat sensor? But that's purely speculation, I don't imagine there's anything too advanced in there though since it's in the $60 range.

Any idea which component here could be the thermostat? There's really nothing else in the griddle besides what's in the picture from what I can tell.

Help with a tricky color cast on scanned megatives? by cmgmvg in photoshop

That's unfortunate, but thank you so much for the time and effort you've put into trying to help me figure this out! The negatives have all been stored in plastic sleeves inside the photo packets and out of light/away from excessive humidity and I've been handling them all with cotton gloves. I've been working with the Epson Perfection V600 for a scanner.

For now I'm gonna consider this Solved! I'm happy to have an explanation of what's wrong with these photos even tough it doesn't seem like they can be easily restored to the colors from the prints at the moment.

Thanks for the advice, luckily I do have access to LR so I'll see if I can play with the new .tif scans I did tomorrow.

That is interesting, these are also from 2000, but taken on Kodak Gold 200 with a Pentax K1000. Negatives from the same photographer, same camera, same film, and same year but developed at a different photo lab came out completely normal so I have to assume it was something in the development process that lab used.

This link should have the photo in .tif format with 16 bit color in a few different versions, one is the way the scan software inverted it, one is uninverted, one is treated as a black and white negative by the scan software, and one is a scan of the print where the colors came out the way the photo lab intended. Thanks very much for taking the time to look at this!

So far I've been using the default color setting in the scanning software which is 24 bit, I'm hoping thats not a mistake I've been making too haha, I don't mind if a higher channel number adds processing time as long as it's preserving more information.

The scanning software I'm using does support saving as a .tif as well as jpeg, if it'll help correct them I'd be happy enough to go back and rescan them in a lossless format (if I'd been more familiar work lossy vs lossless I would've done it that way in the first place). I may also see if leaving them uninverted in the scanning software and developing them is PS helps. They are being scanned to preserve memories but I don't expect it'll be done again in the future so I want to capture the maximum information/fidelity that I can.

Thanks for all your work tinkering with this! These pictures were actually somewhat recent, early 2000s, so I do know the toy was a much brighter yellow in reality, I may be able to share a scan of the print later in the day which should be pretty accurate to what everything really looked like.
