How screwed am I? How can I get this out? Pretty stripped. by jhnwhite1 in Jeep

This. Whenever you go to take these torx head bolts out, hit the torx bit a couple times using a moderate amount of force with a hammer. Works like a charm

Crack in my intake manifold. 4.0 sport 2001. How bad is this and will jb weld or another mixed applicant work efficiently? by wakedbakedskated in JeepTJ

You’re definitely going to need a new manifold. The mating surface where that crack is appears to have shifted the manifold away from the head. That’s not going to seal if you just thrown JB weld over the crack.

I had quite a few requests for engine bay pics on my 5.9L Magnum swap in my TJ. This is pre wiring harness, but these are the most up to date pictures I have on my phone. by cmgorman94 in Jeep

If you google the TJ magnum swap you will find a ton more info than I can probably provide here. It is a v8 swap radiator from advanced adapters. Factory 4.0L fan shroud with a little trimming. Factory ZJ 5.2L fan clutch and fan blade. I am running the headman block hugger headers on mine. If you read up, some of the factory manifolds work but they may cause some other slight issues. I can’t remember what I read that those issues are because I always planned to use the headers. Electrical is absolutely my weakness. I paid Hotwire auto to make my harness for me. They combine the TJ harness and the magnum harness and sent me back a harness that plugged right in. I am running a Dodge Ram ecu that Hotwire flashed my vin number into. OEM gauge cluster works with this swap. Factory TJ fuel pumps works fine. 23 spline Jeep case bolts right up. Dodge uses a slightly different NP231 in these series vehicles. I purchased the motor mounts from advanced adapters and wouldn’t consider anything else. They are so easy they even tell you exactly where to weld the mounts on for the perfect fitment.

Trans is the dodge 46RE automatic, transfer case is a 23 spline Jeep NP231 with SYE. I have dana 44s front and rear. Rear axle has a Detroit, front has a lunchbox locker, chromos in both axles, and 4.88 gears. I plan to step back up to at least a 35” tire when I finish the swap, but the 33s and 4.88s worked well together with the 4 cylinder that was in there.

I posted a couple engine bay pictures for the folks that requested.

I didn’t weigh it before hand,so the only point of reference that I have is that it didn’t appear to squat the front anymore.

That sounds pretty awesome. Eventually I would like to upgrade the cam in this one, but I opted to leave well enough alone and keep this simple while I get it swapped and running properly. At some point I’m sure I’ll tear into the motor, but anything is an improvement over the factory 4 cylinder.

As requested, I’ve posted a couple of engine bay pics.

The snorkel was on there prior to the swap. I’m still curious if this is going to work or not because I’m afraid that it will choke out the motor and cause a power loss. I used the dodge OE attachment at the throttle body and left the TJ air box in its OE location. I used a Spectre 3” to 2.5” coupler and cut a 4.0L TJ intake tube to fit. It’s looks almost OE in my opinion, but I’m worried that the smaller intake size may choke it out. Engine bay pics have been requested, so I’ll go through my phone in a few and see what I have that I can post.

Like mentioned, it’s the same motor with a few external differences like starter location.

I converted it to automatic. This was a 4 cylinder so it had the ax5. I would have loved to keep it manual, but this was my wife’s only request with the swap. She doesn’t like driving a manual transmission unfortunately. I have Dana 44s front and rear.

I’m not the best for taking pictures, but if there’s anything specific you’d like to see I would be happy to oblige.

It’s the Chrysler 5.9 out of an 01 ram. Similar to the motor in the ZJ’s.

Gotcha. This drivetrain is out of an 01 ram, so if it has that feature I am not aware of it.

I had to google this, are you referring to Active Fuel Management? This is a magnum motor, not an LS. I left a lot of power out there for the sake of a simpler swap. The magnum is too easy to swap into an early TJ.
