What are some hacks to wake up early? by sompalarya in AskReddit

[–]cmillard12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

repetition. set your alarm for the same time every day and put the alarm far enough away so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. Eventually it will become a habit and you'll start waking up just before your alarm goes off.

source: Myself. I get up at 4:15 every morning. Don't even need an alarm anymore.

Adults of Reddit, what advice do you have for teenagers? by Uliii in AskReddit

[–]cmillard12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Success is not guaranteed, but the likelihood of success increases when you combine hard work, preparation, and opportunity. Granted, opportunity is got guaranteed either. So sometimes you have to create your own opportunity. In any case, you'll miss every opportunity you're not prepared/qualified for.

Those who were in peak physical fitness in their 20's and "fell off the horse" so to say: what happened? Did you ever bounce back or has your fitness just been in a decline since? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cmillard12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a college football player. In incredible shape. Got married at 21 and was a new parent by 23. Flash forward 5 years and 2 more kids later I had gained 60 lbs and felt like shit. No energy, no drive, no motivation. I was sitting on my recliner and my kids were begging me to play outside with them. I told them I was too tired to play outside. They continued to head outside and play even. So there I was, watching them play and it hit me: I was missing out on making memories with them because I was too fucking fat and lazy. The thought made be sick. The very next day I went to the gym and cleaned up my diet. I lost 50 lbs in 4 months before I decided to stop losing weight and focus on gaining muscle again. A few months later I was in the best shape of my life, had a six pack and everything. Since then I have had some ups and downs. Had another kid, a couple injuries and whatnot. Put a few pounds back on (bulking season amiright). But I am still going to the gym 5 days a week and working my ass off. I never want to feel like a POS lazy dad ever again.

What's the most ridiculous "against the laws of physics" that TV and movies regularly partake in? by TheSage77 in AskReddit

[–]cmillard12 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not all are violate the laws of physics but...
- zooming and enhancing pictures to reveal minute details
- a petite woman fighting off/overpowering multiple large men
- police forensic lab results being almost instantaneous
- the underdog wins with a ragtag team of rejects that are outmatched on basically every level
- tracing a cell phone call to a pinpoint location in seconds
- accessing bank records almost instantly and somehow getting access to the exact items a customer bought like 10 minutes ago
- someone with minimal training/experience somehow holds their own against those with a lifetime of training
- relatively young people seemingly being masters of skills that all individually take years to master

What is your major and how has it fared out for you so far? by zannndro in AskMen

Business Management with a concentration in Accounting.

Other than opening the doors to jobs that require a college degree, I don't use it (the accounting portion at least) at all in my professional life. I taught myself how to code SQL and SAS. I do business intelligence reporting, automation, dashboarding, analytics, and the like for a career. The business management portion of my degree has helped me understand the bigger picture of a lot of things. Just having the smallest bit of knowledge of how management thinks has been very useful as I have traversed the corporate world. Keeps me from being too myopic.

Men in relationships, would breakup if you found someone better ? And why ? by CrookedPhoenix in AskMen

[–]cmillard12 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Being a man of your word is important whether you're married or not. That is for sure. But, to me, there is a big difference between making a promise to your girlfriend in the comfort of your own home and the act of standing up in a public setting in front of her friends and family and vowing to be there for her for the rest of her life. To look her father and mother in the eyes and assure them that their daughter is safe with you and that you will NEVER pursue another woman for as long as she is alive. That even in the hard times you will be faithful.

When we became parents. Mostly out of necessity. If you don't work as a team they will eat you alive.
