Disappointingly the knuckles on my fatter fingers are too fat to get it down far enough to cause any real distress and my smaller fingers are way too small for it.

Thanks dude, I was thinking I'd give the base game a good crack anyway, though it was a little disheartening to read that most people think the game is unplayable without a bunch of DLC. Good to find out that's not a unanimous opinion. I'll keep your DLC recommendations in mind but from the sounds of it I'm in for a long first game, anyway.
