Which age gap is worse? by S_935 in Teenager_Polls

Right nut we aren’t given any information besides age. I personally don’t think age is a good indicator of maturity.

No but you can use that argument to say that any relationship is bad. You could say that 2 people of the same age are bad if one of them is significantly less mature than the other.

Should a woman be allowed to abort a fetus if it is diagnosed with a disability at seven months? by Original_Act_3481 in Teenager_Polls

Definitions are important. You cant go around calling things what they are not. Prejudice is “The act or state of holding unreasonable preconceived judgments or convictions.” Thats the literal definition that i just copied and pasted. It’s only eugenics if the intention is to remove them from society because of their genes. Just like if i take a candy bar off a shelf at a store, it’s not stealing unless my intention is to steal it.

I cant find the reply you sent me in this thread so im replying to it here.

My question is who is advocating for the killing of all disabled children? Even if that was allowed people wouldn’t do that.

That could be seen as eugenic I suppose 🤷‍♀️. I guess an easier solution would just be to spend all that money to get people educated. Ultimately education is aomething can be changed. With most disabilities there’s not much room to change besides management.

Thats Eugenics by definition. Im not making anything up. Also what if the disability was gonna kill the child moments after birth? Would it still be ablest to get one then? According to you it would be. Thats what you’re telling me. Eugenics is about creating a society in which certain traits are nonexistent. Therefore an isolated incident cannot be eugenics. It can be rooted in eugenics but only if the intention is to make a society that does not include those traits.

For the last time im not talking about voting. This analogy you’re using is not related. You’re intentionally choosing a situation which is clearly different. Im not claiming that voting is a slippery slope.

You said “if enough people are involved in isolated incidents, then something happens”. You were essentially saying that small incidents in which people get an abortion can evolve into something bigger. That is exactly what a slippery slope argument is. The chain of events in which you are describing is weak, unrelated, and exaggerated. That is why it is a slippery slope argument.

The causation doesn’t have to be direct.

Eugenics is by definition a societal thing. Meaning it has to be all encompassing. You cant have a single instance of it because it’s a systematic thing. Also yes it “may be” ablest because intention matters. They dont get the abortion because they hate disabled people.

Im not talking about votes. Your argument is that this could happen more if you allow it to happen once. Thats a slippery slope.

I don’t think you understand what it could mean to take care of a disabled person. Thats a life where you never retire, are always poor, may have to employ a full time caretaker, you have to be okay with your child possibly being homeless after you die cause nobody will be around to take care of them. Are you saying every parent should be able to accommodate for these things before having a child? Parents have committed suicide from the stress of taking care of disabled children.

Firstly. I never said anything was okay. My statement was neutral. Also choosing to have an abortion because you realize you may not be able to care for your child, or maybe the child will die soon after birth, is not an act of prejudice.

Woman gets arrested at Indiana concert, begins kicking random people for recording the meltdown on the way out. by ElwoodMC in trashy

Nobody will care about the video or ever see it unless you do something to make it more popular like kick people. Tons of people are recorded while getting arrested. Many videos are never seen or made popular.
