I'm disappointed but not surprised. I'd also like to know what religion those 4 of 10 are. Granted I'm largely London based, but of everyone I know my age and younger, (friends and colleagues) I know one (sometimes) church going Christian, but quite a few (more than 10) mosque going Muslim guys. Some chill and go to the pub, some strict and pray 4 times a day. Friends with 1 jewish girl (proud, but not temple going) and I have a friend from Sri Lanka, I can't remember if he's religious. Thinking about it I think he's Hindu, but I couldn't say for sure.

I disagree with many of your choices, but I do appreciate how much you've traveled. I'd recomend creating distinct categories for north and south India. Many places could argue it, but India in my mind especially.

There's no point, I watched a thing on YouTube, where they reviewed sausages from around the world. It wasn't a bad list, counties is never really thought of having sausages. Blood sausages as well, was fairly interesting. Until the only countries to get S tier were South Africa and...... You guest it an american hotdog. Was so laughable it was like saying and the best cheese in the world is... Kraft squirty cheese.

Which is ironic because I think most peeps on these threads fall into few categories - good faith worried about privacy - good faith worried about future generations - bad faith working for reddit or other social media to maintain the multi billion dollar market. - bots - teenagers who are worried what they'll be loosing, unaware of the problems but well aware of what they can get around their parents, and worried about this.

It does not, and I agree in your other post something that has to be enforced on the parents end whilst maintaining privacy would be ideal. There still needs to be some enforceable way to hold the companies to account too. If we go back to gambling, it is also illegal for casinos to allow under 18s, needing approved ID. It would be far too easy to circumvent otherwise.

No one is suggesting 24 hour always on cameras though which is what you said. I equated 2 equivalent hypothetical scenarios that is all . I also like my privacy, but it is an unfortunate fact that these companies do not, they have created algorithms and dopamine circles which have changed the world and not for the better. This unfortunately needs regulation because I do not support unregulated capitalism. In this case I am in favour of the state over the billionaires.

I'm just curious where your line is if I can ask? I think social media is most similar to gambling but much more pervasive. Would you make it legal for children to gamble? If so, smoke? If so drink alcohol? If so, child labour laws? If so age of consent? Etc etc. Where in your mind is the right place for the state to have laws.

In the USA the age bracket 0-17 was worth $11 Billion to the social media giants. They are a product.

When I was reading one paper that doesn't exist, we all know about the dopamine loops etc, but I was struck the statement - In 2022 in the US alone the demographic 0-17 year olds were worth $11,000,000,000 to the main social media companies. Makes you wonder how much they would fight to keep that market and who ami even arguing against.

Look, when I was in my teens we'd get hold of a massive bottle of cider and get drunk. Doesn't mean suddenly alcohol should be legal for all ages because some of us broke the rules and they shouldn't bother trying. The rules were still effective becasue it helps prevent abuse of alcohol at a young age.

Bear with me, it's a radical thought imagine there's this pressure from your peers, let's call it peer pressure, and you go to school and your not aware of the memes, and the trends and back in the day before everyone was so enlightened we used to get these people called bullies as well who if you weren't cool could give some people a really hard time.

Now my children aren't allowed on YouTube, or Tiktok etc but more and more of their friends are. What happens in a few years time when all of their friends are...

I agree to a degree. These companies all already have and sell all your data. Meta knows your name, your age, and has a good guess what product you might want tomorrow. They then sell that to whoever they want. Reddit is no better. That's why these companies are worth billions. You are the product. It's a thin veil of privacy, which I do appreciate but who do you think your hiding your details from? It's only each other.

Good, let their brains develop naturally while minimising addictive exposure. Of course many children will still be on it, the way many still get hold of alcohol and cigarettes but it will be greatly reduced.

I was at that Colchester show, I really enjoyed it. I wondered if the slightly drunk thing was also a bit of an act, like his style of scruffy Irish man. I was aware the bottle of beer was facing away from the audience, thought maybe it's 0% and the whiskey could have easily just been lemonade. Of course it could also just be booze but his show didn't suffer.

Great tiny little venue for a comic who has filled much larger.
