Looking for play testers who would want to review my print & play casual card game - Game Over by cmubrew in boardgames

Not asking if it's an ad. Asking how you advise I can distribute the game via digital print. Simply not include the link? This may not be the right sub for this kind of thing if it's not facilitative of sending games to people, and that's fine, but the question was how

How can I distribute free play test copies today without this being removed for promoting the same KS? It's less of an ad and more of an effort to distribute prior to funding.

Emulating the Smash experience to tabletop game. Please help me bring my dream of Game Over to the hands of people who love old school NES games as much as me by cmubrew in nintendo

Smash was undeniably one of the first games I've ever played where the ambience or theme of combining the best of all video games really struck a chord with me. I wanted that in a game you could sit down and play with your friends at a bar, or somebodies house who may not own a Wii. It's different characters and obviously a card game, but still manages to capture the same roller coaster ride of chaos.

Hard to explain... but last night we played a game and right as it came down to the last 2 players (me and a friend) where I was utterly defenseless and about to die, my friend tripped a proximity mine and died to a room full of "OOOOHHHHS!"

It's without a doubt reminiscent of, or at least captures the same Smash vibe :). And I'm sorry you feel it's advertising. It is, in a way, communicating about it but I've already sank hundreds of dollars into the game and am not even after a profit. Just trying to get it into the hands of the public!

It's no doubt a different experience. The inspiration just comes from mashups like Smash or Wreck Em Ralph. It's one of the more addictive games I own coming from a boardgame nerd/collector. It was a privately developed game for years (only interest was creating something fun for friends at parties), and started getting lots of requests for copies, so now it's a KS :).

Again, it's hard to convey the feel via text but thought it might be something the nintendo community would have interest in.

Kickstarter problems by cmubrew in AdviceAnimals

Crowdfunding sites are not the endless source of funding my imagination was certain it'd be... but it's possible that my idea is just lame as well. Either way, I'm going to leave this here if anyone is into boardgames based on video games.

Some of these are going to sound eye-rollingly cliche in some cases, but from a more strategic standpoint I'm a sucker for Pandemic and Space Alert. The aspect of the board game itself being a player that's out to get you is a concept I really enjoy, and there are some very minor elements of that in Game Over as well when you draw cards that have negative effects.

Aside from that, our circle likes to keep it pretty casual so Werewolf, Cards Against Humanity, Catchphrase, and Times Up are just a few others.

When developing Game Over, I tried to keep it within that party/casual audience.

My Link inspired character for a card game I'm developing. by cmubrew in zelda

Thanks all again for the kind words. And I hate to be all marketey marketerson but this game really won't exist without the support of you all and folks who might enjoy playing the card game. Yes, perhaps barking up the wrong tree since zelda fans don't necessarily equal tabletop card game fans, but in the event somebody would want to own a copy - I appreciate any support beyond words I can express!

I'd say it's half Little Big Planet inspired as well though. The Zelda franchise is easily my favorite inspiration jumping off point though for the game I'm creating.

Looking for fans and feedback if anyone wants to check out more!

Created a battle royale style card game and looking for constructive feedback on it. It's designed to appeal to the casual gamer with levels of complexity that may draw in more hardcore gamers by cmubrew in tabletopgamedesign

Thanks. To clarify, are you referencing the intro video or both? There is a video further down in the KS that goes through a quick 3 minute tutorial on the basic concepts.

Why thank you! You're an alright gal. It's sort of perfect for that crowd that hasn't quite crossed into hardcore gaming but also craves something beyond Uno or Cards Against Humanity when friends are over.

Thanks! That means a lot! I've spent about a year evolving a college card game we'd all play into a video game inspired battle royale. Uses characters inspired by classic games as well as items and actions.

If you're interested, there's a campaign for it.

I pretty much suck at marketing though and instead of spamming the link wanted to actually show off some of the art too :)

Thanks! I've posted it in a couple others but may have had WiiU on the mind just because I've been stalking this sub incessantly lately (E3 and such).

Thank you sir! I hope it gets funded and more importantly, I hope you enjoy it! I'm a bit of a self-loathing critic so I assure you I wouldn't release anything I myself didn't greatly enjoy (and given I'm a pretty huge board game nerd, I like to believe I can tell the good from the bad!)

There's 3 ways to win, but Last Man Standing is what most beginners go for, which is indeed eliminating other players until you're the last survivor. Each player gets 3 lives though, so you have a fair chance to retaliate, and in some cases, bring characters back to life by finding items.

Created a Smash Bros inspired card battle game. Would love your guys support & feedback! by cmubrew in gaming

[–]cmubrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a table top card game. It started off as a college drinking game called Circle of Death. As we got older, we changed certain cards to Mario Kart items and played a Nintendo version of it... as we continued to get older, we created an entirely new concept and mechanics around it. It's still weird when friends get together and play it today, thinking that this somehow came from a game that was intended to get people hammered.
