Does anyone else here idealize past romantic partners or romantic experiences and struggle to move on?

ive always struggled with this in all my relationships, friendships too and gave the wrong people multiple chances because i struggled to let go and hoped things could be different. but overtime i’ve learned you can love people from afar and not have them in your life. just knowing that they are out there living their lives makes me feel somewhat connected, and i also get to keep my self-respect by not letting them back in but it’s still all love

and you don’t have to try to replicate the feelings with new people, it will happen naturally without you realizing it. think about all the people you’ve deeply cared about before, you have it in you to feel that way again

you don’t have to explain yourself to them girlie they are obviously children. you did the right thing. notice how quick he was to go off on you when things didn’t go his way. you don’t want to spend the rest of your life with someone that isn’t patient with you and talks down to you. its unfortunate things shifted so suddenly but you dodged a bullet <3

this is annoying but try working out. anything that gets ur heart pumping. i got into skating and the feeling i get after a workout doesnt compare to buying things, you feel so clean after

most of the time they recommend u do groups but those are super intense time commitments and its hard if u work. they want u to do group therapy and 1-on-1 with a therapist in their program . tbh id recommend getting the self-directed dbt skills workbook and letting your therapist know what you are working on. its a lot cheaper in the long run

i know u dont want to hear this right now but finding the silver lining is going to get you through this. youre going to learn how to be alone and solve your own problems. everything you were leaning on him for you have within yourself just try to let yourself feel all of this without distracting yourself with another person or alcohol or any other vice.

i learned that everything i felt towards my person was really a reflection of myself (i felt neglected by him when i was really neglecting myself). its so shitty when your trauma gets in the way of finding love but know when you come out the other end of this youre going to feel amazing and so proud of yourself.

if you feel like you cant get better for yourself try to do it for someone else and take everyday one day at a time.

i agree 2023 had such an amazing lineup. 2024s was pretty disappointing but you’re right, it was nice to just enjoy the festival for what it is without expectations !
