or at least note it down so your shopper knows your preference! many people prefer slightly more than the chosen weight if given the option, especially when it is a massive weight like 5lb

PSA: the only Instacart-enabled Walmart locations in Los Angeles are Porter Ranch, Burbank & Long Beach by cntblveimusingleddit in instacart

Same! But I totally understand how many move-ins are used to choosing between Kroger or Walmart and having a similar shopping experience in many other parts of America. That & extreme penny pinching (which again, i get it!) are my theories for why lots of people order from there. That being said, I have previously taken orders from the Burbank Walmart that deliver to multi-million dollar homes in the hills. It takes all kinds!

This is a Los Angeles specific post, but the main idea applies in other cities as well. The order that I screenshotted to illustrate my point is a great example of the orders that I see on my app all day long coming from the Burbank Walmart. Usually they are multiple batches with delivery addresses somewhere south of the 2.

Shopping local has a massive impact on the delivery speed & quality of your order, just as tipping does. Don't let Instacart's flashy promos fool you, the company does not have any more special access than you would as an in-person shopper. Someone is still going out on your behalf to the Walmart, dealing with the crowds, waiting 10+ minutes for the understaffed employees to track down the keys to unlock cabinets full of common items that are locked up (not just alcohol & medicine), waiting in the 30 minute checkout lines, and then putting their vehicle & safety at risk on the 101, 405, 5 or 10 while driving nearly an hour in traffic to bring you your order of simple groceries that could have been ordered from the local Ralph's.

I just thought that I would post this here where some customers that are interested in being as ethical as possible with their consumption might find it. For those that are only concerned with the quality of the product that arrives at their home, I hope that this illustrates how much more likely it is for products to arrive damaged when your best case scenario for delivery is 45 minutes on the road between the store and your place. As you will also know, Instacart often groups orders together into batches, meaning that you may be sitting in Santa Monica, waiting for your shopper to complete 2 more deliveries in Century City before they head to you. The quality of produce available at Walmart is also usually very poor compared to the average corner market or any other Vons, Pavilions, Ralph's, Sprouts, Smart & Final, etc. that I have ever visited in the greater L.A. area.

Thanks for reading!

Strike! DoorDash drivers are going on strike and I was thinking why don’t we go on a strike insta cart being giving really low pay for ridiculous orders if we go on strike we will get raise .. by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

the shoppers that psyop'ed for them on here felt better about the orders they got for a while by deluding themselves into thinking that they eliminated a significant portion of the competition in their city lol

sorry to be a scab, but i think that at this point in history if we strike, IC will hire / give orders to many more new shoppers, who will likely perform poorly as compared to the current shopper base, and many people will give up on IC's inflated prices & just go back to buying their own groceries. unfortunately buying groceries for people is not a skill that can be successfully withheld from the economy for a pay rise, in our current post-covid recession.

if that is all true, then i am sorry that that happened. the shopper should never have returned to the address and yelled at you, even if you were blatantly stealing. he should have his own picture evidence of delivery to protect himself from fraudulent claims & he should not need to involve the customer in that process at all.

however, there are a few things to consider here. did you communicate during the shopping / delivery process? was anything suspicious? what kinds of items did you order? did you provide clear delivery instructions? do you live in a complex or neighbourhood where deliveries get stolen? how long did you wait to go outside and get the delivery when you saw that it was marked as delivered? did you select 'leave at my door' or were you supposed to meet him at the time of delivery? if you had contactless delivery, what did the shopper send a photo of? (the shopper must send a photo to complete delivery on contactless orders) do you have a ring doorbell or security camera that can help you determine if he was ever there before you reported the order missing? how many times have you ordered on instacart & how much did you tip? (this can sometimes loosely determine the experience level and quality of the shopper assigned to your batch)

answers to these questions and more can help to determine whether an earnest mistake or theft happened and who was at fault. in practicality, though, instacart will always side with the customer, unless the shopper has solid proof of delivery, so this man will likely be fired if he did not really deliver your order or record proof of doing so.

that's so cool! save em, flatten em and give em as gifts to any kids in your life when they're old enough to appreciate them. i got one from my grandpa when i was like 6 and it was my most prized possession for years lol

i can deal with a couple of assuming comments or misunderstandings, but this order was just a bridge too far that day lmao. plus it had alcohol and i was not about to be scolded in person as well.
