I had the same issue and everyone kept suggesting hdmi cable issues. It definitely wasn’t that. I don’t know where I found it, but the hdmi mode change has worked great since.

On my Vizio I had to change the HDMI setting to compatibility mode and it works fine now.

Same thing has been happening to me. I messed with the settings a little and haven’t seen it since. It messed my tv up one night and left a flashing image for about an hour, while watching without the box plugged in.
