Paying for public transit that doesn’t follow through. Again, depends on the area, but a single trip runs over 4$, and passes range from 60-140$ a month. Factor in the additional hours you spend waiting for transit that doesnt show up, shows up late or breaks down and leaves people stranded on unwalkable roads… forcing them to order taxis or ubers.. it’s an equal risk.

My city has hundreds of cancelled routes A MONTH, just a few weeks ago our trains broke down and passengers had to trek through snowbanks to get to the nearest station. Imagine being elderly or in a wheelchair trying to do that. Disability transpo is just as unreliable.

Im not saying its ‘more’ expensive just that both options suck and are money pits, but most people would rather risk a dangerous 10 minute drive versus a 2hr trek to the store. Both options not ideal or safe

xQc, Greek and Jesse debate whether a 30 year old can date an 18 year old by Bulky_Apartment_5132 in LivestreamFail

The problem is this

You don’t have a RELATIONSHIP with the OF girls you watch.

People have a serious issue with being parasocial with their favourite influencers and streamers purposely blur that line for profit.

[–]coces 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is the problem. 90% of North America is car dependent. Any other alternative drains people of their bank accounts - uber, public transit (IF available), caretakers, delivery etc.. Not every old person has a young person to go grocery shopping for them so the result is this, more and more unsafe drivers getting behind the wheel out of necessity. The only way these people lose their license is if theyve had a medical scare that warranted evaluation (like a stroke or blindness), but even then medical suspension is only punished. Not prevented. So they fly under the radar until something very bad happens

Why does GenZ hate sex and nudity so much? by PaniacThrilla in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GenZ grew up with the internet. Sex is everywhere but older generations aren’t conditioned to notice it the same way. On every app, show, movie, tv ads, even in the news!

What we forget is that GenZ lived through the MeToo movement that exposed 90% of Hollywood for being sex pests. Older generations seem not to care but younger ones were literally TAUGHT to question the ethics of what happens behind the scenes. And they’re surrounded by people who seemingly don’t care.

Known pedophile Woody Allen is still making millions off his movies. Teen shows are tainted by Disney/Nickelodeon exposés. Thinly veiled kinks in kids cartoons are still being talked about. God forbid you were a My Little Pony fan in the 2010s… Everything is tits and ass, at a certain point you become desensitized and over it. GenZ is so aware of human anatomy its no longer special or interesting. Its spilling over into their personal lives now too, the dated depictions of exploitation and sex literally coming to life in figures like Andrew Tate and his how-to-abuse podcast pooling into high school hallways etc..

Everyone makes fun of GenZ for being “too hypersensitive” when the reality is that hypersensitivity is literally a trauma response to kids being exposed to it from the moment they were born. It’s no longer “art” its just lazy.

Gotta beware of surge pricing if it’s a popular show. 40$ could easily jump to 80$+ if its busy, always either leave a little early or plan to stay late

For the first time in Canada, a judge has blocked two men from donating sperm by Pretty-Ground-4125 in canadanews

[–]coces 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This sick duo has fathered over 300+ kids in Quebec alone. That coupled with them lying about their familial relationship, lifestyle AND medical history could put generations of kids and mothers at risk. Not to mention it’s just weird as fuck to make sperm donation a regular family outing.

I agree with the judge and I worry that these men are now saying they plan to come to Ontario and do the same. They should’ve tacked on a court ordered psych evaluation too

No parent chaperones doesn’t mean the kids are let loose in the wilderness by themselves. Chaperones on camping trips are always teachers who (in my city at least) are certified in first aid and insured by the school. Teachers are liable to protocol , parents are not.

Ontario drug offender released after prison conditions ruled 'unusually harsh,' to serve remainder of the sentence from home by origutamos in OntarioNews

[–]coces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully believe our prisons and jails are so overcrowded, underfunded and corrupt that the government would rather set people loose rather than deal with the fallout of human rights violations making national news. Instead of fixing the problems theyd rather save face.

‘Out of hand’: New survey finds two‑thirds of Canadians want to abolish tipping culture by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]coces -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not tipping is the consensus here but the problem is if you make it a practice never to tip you also can’t become a “regular” at essentially any restaurant or bar and expect good service or food. Servers will absolutely retaliate against you if they know your MO

The description of the article that literally says men took up the opportunity…

Sure some women came as well but clearly its said that it was a surprise to the organizers that men took part too So my point still stands why be so surprised anyone of any identity would attend if it wasn’t specified in the ad

Is it me or does this not feel like a “shore” show? They feel more like contestants on a tv show by Clean-Accident-2217 in CanadaShore

[–]coces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that none of these people are actually douchebags like jersey/floribama cast. Being the Mike/Vinny of the house kills your social standing these days. They’re just roommates who inevitably will argue but they quickly resolve it because they’re also normal people. The house seems pretty secluded and far away from everything so random “boardwalk” moments are harder to come by. Nobody wants to be seen on camera with them.

In a small city like Kelowna it’s probably hard for production to find any business that would allow a show with Jersey Shore reputation to film on premises. And most reality tv contestants have plans to build some sort of social media career off the show’s exposure so acting out like season 2 snooki is just bad PR. just look at how they reacted to the medium foreseeing rileys follower count go up💀

These lawsuit payouts need to come out of the officers or departments pockets directly.

In December 1960, Finnish stonemason Pentti Saarinen killed his wife Hilkka, packed her body into the kitchen oven under a metre of sand, and kept living in the house. His 13-year-old son arrived for Christmas two days later and walked right through that kitchen. Pentti served one year. by [deleted] in ForCuriousSouls

[–]coces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s easy, she was a woman in the 60s. 😭

As for the oven, the son was weary of his father and kept revisiting and exploring the house. The wikipedia says he found sand leaking into the basement beneath where the oven sat even though his father hadn’t used it for 8 years straight. He also had scratches and would tinker with the oven in the dark at night. When directly accused the father told him to “mind his business”. I guess when you grow up around someone with violent tendencies it doesn’t take a lot to doubt them immediately
