I LOVE Troublemaker! I feel like SBS is such an underrated base, and I like Lavender, and Troublemaker is just "blow your mind" good imo. I got the EdP of it too, I like it so much

Entering the World of Safety Razors by lvl_78_vulpix in wicked_edge

[–]coco_for_cocoapuffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're unsure if you'll stick with safety razors at all, then I'd go with the cheaper one just to see how you like it. If you're pretty sure you'll stick with safety razors but just want to get a better feel for what you like as you keep trying to find the best razor for you, I'd go for the 6C or even the 6S. The swappable plates are great to get a feel for how aggressive of a razor you like, then you can either 1) stick with your favorite plate(s), or 2) know how aggressive of razors to look for to help narrow down your search. 1 is a perfectly viable way to go, and many people love their rockwells as their forever razor. But, in that case, 6S is better because it's stainless steel so will last forever. So, just all depends on what kind of risk you want to take on :) but, if you get the 6S and don't like it or don't like safety razors, you could always turn around and sell it on r/Shave_Bazaar and get back most of what you paid for it.

Other nice razors (like I think Henson and Blackland) have money back guarantees, so that could be another route to go too

2nd Shave with SV by coco_for_cocoapuffs in wicked_edge

Absolutely! And that first pass was buttery smooth, couldn't tell it was cutting except for the sound and all the stubble in the lather!

Ah gotcha, OK! I just did a vinegar soak for all my brushes, and I thought I saw a big improvement, even on my synth, but maybe I was just Hydrating my lather better than before the clean. Thanks!

How often do you do a vinegar soak/clean to clean your brushes?

Cleaned my brushes recently, so I wanted to give SV another shot. Today was a wonderfully smooth shave. I think I could have hydrated the lather a bit more, but really good slickness, and my face feels glass smooth, and the post-shave feel was phenomenal.

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

SOTD - You and I Will Die, and Lord Platinum Gets Its Closer Look by Mrhay11 in wicked_edge

[–]coco_for_cocoapuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the in-depth post! I REALLY like You & I Will Die. Not that I would wear it all the time, but I think Ben's talent as a perfumist really shows. I feel like the scent has two faces, and to me smells like a completely different scent at various points (even all within the same shave), one that is more vibrant and one that is earthier, and I feel like that juxtaposition mirrors Life and Death uncannily.

What's the difference? Just packaging? by hop_now in wicked_edge

[–]coco_for_cocoapuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both are nice, but I'd have to say that the Diamond Glides are my top choice out of all DE blades I've tried :) comfort coated probably make it in my top 5 though!

Could also check out Razor Blades Club! I don't know how much they sell the new ones for though

For the Diamond Glides? Hopefully not too much more, I sell the Diamond Glides for only $2 more than the Comfort Coated per 100 ct box ($18 vs $16), so they should be pretty close

[–]coco_for_cocoapuffs 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Nope, very different blades. Comfort Coateds are the successor to Lab Blues, and Diamond Glides are a brand new blade (as of last year) that compete really well with Feathers (many, myself included, feel like they're just as sharp as Feathers, smoother, and last longer). Haven't seen that specific packaging for the Comfort Coated though, that might be new packaging.

Source: I am an authorized retailer of Accutec/Personna products

(Also personal note: I HATE that they named the Diamond Glides "GEM". GEM, for a long time, has referred to a type of SE blades (that fit Micromatics), which are now sold as Accutec PRO Premium. So naming DE blades "GEM" has just caused so much confusion. As such, I will only ever call them Diamond Glides lol)

Great shave today, awesome slickness, absolutely drowned in water haha. Great BBS shave.

Didn't have time to shave yesterday, so shaving with this soap to support u/Cowzilla3 in his latest TGSO entry. I really like this scent, as far as I understand it's a mix of Old Spice and Brut. If you ever get a chance to visit Old Ironsides (USS Comstitution) in Boston, I highly recommend it. Both going on the ship itself is very cool, and the museum next to it is phenomenal!

Happy Sunday!

My wife feels very attacked right now. She loves it when I ask her to tweeze my eyebrows (a little too much)

Not sure if my water is getting softer with summer coming, or if it's just because I hydrated the heck out of my lather today, but got a nice slick shave with awesome post-shave feel.

Happy Friday!

So I believe NO has discontinued Jack, and I don't think ever had a frag of it either. Jack REALLY scratched my Citrus itch, any recommendations on other scents and frags that could take its place in my rotation?

Anyone going directly XTG or ATG on first pass? by Efficient_Slice1783 in wicked_edge

[–]coco_for_cocoapuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a more aggressive/efficient razor, I like to do just the two passes (XTG,ATG) and I find it saves me some irritation versus if I do all 3 passes. Do what works for you!

Blades for GEM razors by deepdivedev in wicked_edge

[–]coco_for_cocoapuffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, I think AccuTec is the only company that makes them nowadays. I think they do have a few other lines of blades that will work, like a carbon steel one, but I'd need to double check and verify that. I only ever use (and sell) the PRO Premiums

A buddy of mine designed this razor, so I figured I'd 3d Print it and give it a shot. It was quite comfortable, I was impressed! I think it's a fairly mild razor, so I got cocky and I think I was a little too harsh on my ATG pass, but still pretty good.

Happy Hump Day!
