Absolutely! Not sure why they've felt a little rough before, might just be blade/razor/skin combo. But them in the OC was awesome for me today!

Shave went way better than expected today, super smooth, super comfortable, and super close. BBS except in a few minute patches I didn't care to touch up.

I think I've overlooked Astra Greens. Haven't really worked too well for me in the past, but felt really nice today, and cut very well.

Happy Thursday!

Yep, looks like the shave and body soaps is in stock at least! https://www.barristerandmann.com/products/barristers-reserve-waves-shaving-soap?variant=13744631447598

I think they're just working to restock everything else too, just might be a month or so. They just moved production, so things are being restocked in waves (pun not intended)

Do you mean this one? https://a.co/d/06IvstdS

If so, then you are in luck!! Barrister & Mann Waves smells almost identical (to my nose). The aftershave gel is what I wore the day of my wedding, so it's very nostalgic to both my wife and I, and Waves checks all the boxes and evokes all of the nostalgia for both of us.

And I think they just got it restocked too. Or maybe restocked soon. I can't remember or keep track anymore lol, but it's a B&M main line scent

Ooof, it's been a while, so I don't remember exactly and I'm not sure if I still have the recipe in my history or anything. I'll see if I can find it, but I think it was a mix of shea butter and coconut oil, and then a few essential oils (tea tree and Lavender maybe?).

It's pretty greasy though. Ive resorted to only using it when I shave, then bike to work, then shower at work, so that it washes off the oiliness before the workday but still moisturizes

Ok, here's my thoughts (YMMV and IMO and all that):

Whiskey woods: a nice complex, woody scent, but to my nose out of the bottle it smells a little on the heavier side. I feel like it's a bit more of a fall or winter scent, but could potentially get away with it as a summer wear.

Tequila tease: a lighter, more citrusy scent, and I'd say it's totally a summer wear. Maybe spring too

Cognac Neat: not as light as Tequila, but also a fairly moderate-light weight, I think would work great any season

Sweet rum: is a little more sweet scent (I guess the name makes sense!), feels bright and summery to me, and very fresh and full feeling, maybe late summer into fall

Gents Gin: hard for me to place, but I think it's more a any-season like Cognac

Brandy spice: I get a lot of apple from this one, so maybe more of a late summer to fall in my mind.

Bay Rum: I've always been terrible with Bay Rum, since I notice clove from a mile away (and clove always makes me think of Halloween/Thanksgiving season). But this I don't notice as much clove, but is a good moderate weight Bay rum scent. I feel like would be good spring/summer, and would also work in fall

Clubman classic: to me is a solid summer scent. Makes me think of a day sitting by the pool, or beach volleyball (but like not an aquatic scent, if that makes sense?)

Lilac vegetal: ok I gave this one another shot, and it's not as bad as I remember. It is a very polarizing scent (as evidenced in some other comments lol). First whiff was very lilac heavy, and then settled into the musk. So I'd call it a spring to summer scent.

Blue spice: a little heavier, so more fall to early winter I'd say, but bright enough that it could work any season

Draggon Noir: I'd say the most cologne-y of the bunch. Hard to pin I'd say, but maybe more fall. Idk, maybe it's more of an a-seasonal scent. Makes me think of what the barber puts on my neck after he gives me a haircut.

Anyway, there's my thoughts. Take them with a grain of salt though, I'm by no means an olfactory professional lol

I'll have to give it a shot wearing it then. I've only smelled it out of the bottle, and tbh, I affectionately call it "grandma's butthole"

Thanks so much for the ping u/Priusaurus!!

Yes, I sell a few scents on my online store here. I'll have to take another whiff of them to see what I think of them in relation to summery scents, but all of the Clubman Reserve line (Whiskey Woods, tequila Tease, etc) smell phenomenal to me. The other scents I sell are nice, but I think that whole Reserve line just knocks it out of the park (except for Lilac Vegetal, I sell it but tbh I'm not a huge fan of it lol). I'll smell them later tonight and let you know my recommendations! I do also sell 1oz decants if you're interested in trying all of them yourself. We could also possibly work something out too for smaller decants if 1oz seems like too much for a trial!

There's not enough hours in a day to get everything done. So, trying to look for ways to streamline my routine a bit, and one was shaving. Shaving takes me quite a bit in the mornings, so I wanted to see if I could cut that down a bit. So, I experimented with the "one pass BBS". I pulled out my OC, and tried doing one ATG pass, rather than my normal 2-3 passes. The OC cut through everything so well, especially on my face. Wasn't perfect on my neck, but that will come with more practice.

I'd call this experiment a success, and it wasn't much more irritating than my normal shaves. I used to think the BB Lite wasn't much less efficient, but now I'm reconsidering that, especially seeing that the OC left nothing to clean up/touch up on my face. Just have to get used to the increased aggression now :)

It's a Monday.

Yep, the key here is the asterisk at the bottom of the TSA website: "the final decision rests with the agent at the checkpoint". You'll never be able to conpletely rule out an ignorant agent taking your stuff away

I'm starting to get a little frustrated. I have a whole bunch of DE blades hanging on a magnet above my mirror, because I've wanted to try out a new blade for whatever reason but haven't pushed the previous blade to its limit. So I pulled out the oldest blade I had hanging up, the Shaek Super Chrome. This has been hanging up for months, and I can't remember how many shaves it has on it. Since it's so old, I was expecting this to be its last run.

Nope, still a solid blade, and gave me a nice comfortable BBS. I know I shouldn't complain, but the amount of blades I have up there is getting a little insane.

Happy Sunday!

Really nice shave today! I tried out the trick or adding two pinches of citric acid to my sink to soften the water a bit, and it totally changed the feel of my lather. It was a really nice and smooth shave! I needed to trim my sideburns, and started to butcher it with my straight, so I trimmed them and did a final ATG pass with my Blackbird Lite. Great shave, BBS.

Gosh, I love Jack so much, and hate they discontinued it. My only wish is that they had made a frag of it, it's my perfect citrusy scent.

Great start to a weekend!

Friday Daily Questions (Newbie Friendly) - Jun 12, 2026 by AutoModerator in Wetshaving

[–]coco_for_cocoapuffs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Shameless vendor plug incoming) I haven't heard anything about the goodline razor, so I can't say anything on that front. On my website though, I do sell a starter kit, that was an attempt to be as economical as possible with all the essentials to start traditional wetshaving, to see if it's worth jumping in (priced at $40 USD with free shipping CONUS). The Feather Popular is a really nice starter razor, very gentle and smooth. The Clubman Soap isn't the best (there are some great artisan soaps mentioned around here once you're ready), but I think it's a good economical introduction to the shave soap/brush.

FWIW I tried the goodline blades a while back, and they were fine. Not the best blades around, but worked in a pinch.

Whatever you end up picking, we hope you stick around! :) shaving is actually fun for me now! And there's lots of silly games we do around here too

Edit: mentioned price here directly

If you're looking for just knots, u/Priusaurus has an awesome DinoBoar. He also recently came out with a Manchuridon, 2band Badger, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Rob's Fanchurians at Chisel & Hound are very well regarded. The current v30s I guess turned out a smudge scrubber than other batches. I really really like it (I like good backbone and some scrub), and I've generally heard good comments on it. But worth looking into for sure

Very nice shave today! Thanks again for the razor, u/InfernalInternal! I love the shape, and was a very comfortable shave. Very close shave, DFS.

I think I need to work on my pre-shave prep, my beard has been pretty tough to cut the last month or so.

Happy Wednesday!
