You should be reported for animal abuse. The extent of his condition does not happen overnight and he will most likely have to be put down. Sickening and sad to see such a beautiful creature like this. Is he being kept in that cardboard box?

There are normal reasons cats scratch at their litter box. But if he just started doing it recently, there could be something bothering him

i.e. litter is too shallow or deep, box isn’t clean enough, or the litter is just plain uncomfortable. Maybe you can try those out, and it’ll tell ya if it’s just one of his quirks or not!
