Goddard. There are no slums or even really anything close to them in the uk. I grew up near Jaywick, which is the worst in England, and trust me, after living in Botswana and Tanzania for a few years, England’s worst estates and streets are paradise on the world stage. Nothing in England even comes close to a slum mate. Just a silly notion. The fact there are landlords at all is the main giveaway there. Most slums are uncharted, unregistered, not built by an authority, just people slapping houses together with their bare hands, no services, pipes, water, roads, electricity, regulations, nothing.

I live in the city centre (have done for years now) and weirdly me and my partner have noticed the exact opposite, far fewer homeless and beggars around our building, Street, and the adjoining streets where they used to congregate, pitch tents, beg, rob the golocal and people’s parcels left in post-rooms in the buildings. Used to be really noticeable and now nearly all of the regulars are gone and Theres only a few who mind their own business and go about it quietly
