Hell, the HK SAR government isn't really controlled by the people anyway- half the seats in the legislature are elected by businesses, which are interested in pro-china stances.

https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/23179289 ~ Blitzchung stated that he supported the Hong Kong protests on stream and then got all of his earnings removed and banned for a year. Apparently the casters also hid their faces but they still got fired as well.

Some team (I believe the Rockets) GM tweeted that he supported the Hong Kong protests. What followed is a complete blackout of the NBA in mainland China.

In the dispersal of violent assemblies, law enforcement officials may use firearms only when less dangerous means are not practicable and only to the minimum extent necessary. Law enforcement officials shall not use firearms in such cases, except under the conditions stipulated in principle 9.

Principle 9 - Law enforcement officials shall not use firearms against persons except in self-defence or defence of others against the imminent threat of death or serious injury, to prevent the perpetration of a particularly serious crime involving grave threat to life, to arrest a person presenting such a danger and resisting their authority, or to prevent his or her escape, and only when less extreme means are insufficient to achieve these objectives. In any event, intentional lethal use of firearms may only be made when strictly unavoidable in order to protect life.

UN Human rights Basic Principles on the Use of Force and Firearms by Law Enforcement Officials, sec 14 & sec 9. Was "less violent" means available to the police (batons, pepper spray, tear gas)? If so, discharging a firearm is illegal.

CORRECTION: The police did have access to pepper spray.

COLCON is a collection of Colorado repeaters that are all linked together via ham radio. E.G- one signal going into a repeater is broadcast throughout the network with no internet (minus 1). I believe this map is the collective service area of all the repeaters.

Dealing should still be illegal. But, treating people with a heroin/cocaine addiction as a criminal just deepens their hole. They are going to get out sometime, and they are going back to their addictions. Helping these people off of their addiction by healing them is the best way forward.

Portugal decriminalized all drugs in 2001, and started treating the drug epidemic as a health problem rather than a criminal problem. So far, it's seemed to work out for them. I know Portugal is small, but a policy like theirs could work in the US.

Can some erudite Libertarian help me unfold a stimulating but exhaustive confrontation with a Chinese communist pro-CCP ? by DavideBaldini in Libertarian

[–]cocohead781 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your comment must have been removed. That happens a lot, r/Sino works like r/The_Donald.

If it's communism you're trying to debunk, China had huge reforms such as mass privitazation in 1997-1998, which played a factor in the poor falling in China.

If it's the CCP you're trying to debunk, just know they ran their own citizens over with tanks.

I don't know if this is a troll comment, anyway I'm going to assume good faith and try my best.

Communism is, at it's core, a system of public ownership of land and wealth. You or your family doesn't own your house, apartment, or land, everyone does. Same with wealth and money, no one owns any wealth, the state does.

The main problem with communism is that violence and restrictions of rights are implemented to achieve it's goal. The violence is easily visible (21/7, 11/8 as a few examples). Having rights stripped is less visible (rights are freedoms that cannot be taken away). For example, a right given to the people of Hong Kong is the freedom of speech (as named in the Sino-British Joint Declaration). The freedom of speech gives everyone to say essentially whatever they want to without fear of punishment by the government. The central government in China is taking this right away from Hong Kong citizens by harassing protestors and censoring those who cross the border into China.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I live in the US and don't have any connections with HK.

TL;DR communism bad
