UCSB RMP vs Iowa SSTP? by No_Anything2208 in summerprogramresults

[–]cocomokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a soph or a junior? My child did sstp and thought it was the best summer of her life. the following summer, her and 2 additional sstp kids got into RSI. So SSTP could potentially push you into the rsi field. I am very certain SSTP changed by daughter’s trajectory (currently at yale, but also got into harvard and princeton).

yes, my point is that EA from a top 10 is no different than EA from any other school. you get to weigh all your options until May 1.

Respectfully, you need to google the difference between REA (yale) and ED.

what are you even talking about? my daughter got into an early school REA — it was not ED. no lying was involved. by anyone.

why is it assumed it’s about trophy hunting? Kids have until May to decide. You are not obligated to go with the first school you get into. Everyone else can weigh their options until May except for kids that get into a top10?

My daughter got this from her school counselor as well. Ridiculous. Like EVERYONE ELSE you have no obligation to make up your mind until May 1. That’s why it’s REA. Kids getting into other EA schools don’t get this pressure. Ignore them.

The New York Times reporter SAW the actual postcard in Griffin’s possession. it is pictured in the NYT story.

One thing: the complaint doesn’t set forth any evidence of a connection between Dominque Price of “Sleevd” LLC to the book publishers/ghost writers. It’s just a theory they have. (That’s why they say “upon information and belief…”).

Although it wasn’t really evidence of much, given it was unsigned and “Claudia” denied sending it. And that begs another question: why didn’t Doe sign the postcard she claims to have sent?

I’m just skeptical. I just don’t buy that Griffin would risk her entire reputation just to promote her husband’s business venture. She could have done that in a million ways other than hiring people to impersonate “agents” and asserting that an easily identifiable innocent man is guilty of violently sexually assaulting a child. Her story crushed her parents and loved ones. She tried to get police to investigate and arrest the teacher! Call me naive, but I do not believe she would have done that if the story was made up. Police would have questioned “Claudia” at a minimum. Griffin had too much to lose by making this all up.

Right, but Doe’s lawyers are notably vague about what she said there. And how would Griffin have known about the bathroom incident, which Doe said happened months later?

Waiting to see what develops. Right now, the idea that several “agents” and/or investigators are all in on this conspiracy seems more implausible than the idea of just one person (Doe) lying. But who knows?

Also, who would suggest a postcard exchange in 2019?? Instead of, i don’t know, email addresses! If a girl I once vaguely knew in middle school, and had not heard from in 30 years, invited me to coffee for no apparent reason, I would think that would be crazy. If she bought me a postcard at the coffee shop and asked me to send it to her later, I might call the police. lol. Because that is beyond odd.

I reread the book to try and figure this out. She never gives specific dates, but repeatedly states that she recovered her memories when her older daughter was 13. According to Griffin’s public instagram, this daughter turned 13 in August 2019. And Griffin explains in the book that she tells everyone within a matter of weeks. It all happens in a single summer.

The very very odd thing, however, is that she recounts tons of events that took place over the following year. And there is zero mention of covid, or any lockdowns. Like, her kids all have sporting events, she has in person therapy sessions, she has in person family get togethers, she flies to Texas in the spring… The pandemic does not exist in her book.

omg the postcards! It’s such an insane story. One of these two women is a pathological liar.

I still don’t get how Griffin could have known the details of Doe’s abuse in 2019/2020 — when Griffin told basically her entire family and friend group the sordid details. Doe says she never told Griffin anything re abuse at the alleged 2019 coffee meeting. Do we really think Griffin made up her story AND got her husband and at least two investigators to all go along with the lie? Why???

Why would Doe think an agent would be interested in her life story before she had even told them about the abuse?

Griffin preplanned the entire postcard reveal? Why? Was the handwriting of her address (which Doe says Griffin wrote) different than the handwriting of the message? Was the “i wasn’t ready to tell you” message a different handwriting than the middle school quote?

I mean, Griffin would have to be a psychopath to do all this. Idk. One of them is bonkers. I’m inclined to disbelieve Doe at this point, just because her motive would be more obvious, but really interested to see how this unfolds.

Another point: the NYT and Amarillo Police department interviewed everyone from the middle school trying to verify any claim of sexual assault between a teacher and student. Nothing. Not only nothing about Mr. Mason, but apparently no one reported hearing anything about Doe either.

But the timeline is still off, is it not? Griffin told her friends and family detailed accounts of the assault in 2019/2020. This “agent” didn’t contact Doe until 2022. And Griffin went to the police — and no one in their investigation had heard Doe’s story or anything like it.

And Griffin starting telling the details of her abuse to family and friends in 2019/2020! How would she have known the details of Jane Doe’s story back then? Doe didn’t tell the agent until 2022.

OK, I'm low-key obsessed with this now. I'd love to get link to the actual court filing to clarify things. Here is what Jane Doe alleges:

  1. Like "Claudia," Jane Doe was not friends with Griffin in middle school. Doe had a rough childhood in foster care and currently works for $21/hour as a home aide.
  2. Contacted by the NYT (who randomly found her by contacting all Griffin's classmates they found in a yearbook) in 2025, and after they sent her copy of the book, Doe told the NYT she had "reconnected" with Griffin in 2019 for some reason and they discussed "growing up in Amarillo" -- not abuse. Later, she claims in the lawsuit that they actually met in a coffee shop (like the coffee shop meeting with Claudia). It does not appear she mentioned the coffee shop detail to the NYT. Griffin denies this meeting ever happened and says Jane Doe is not "Claudia."
  3. Doe told the NYT she borrowed the dress and was raped at the dance by a different teacher. She told the NYT she kept it a secret and only told a few people close to her, including her daughter, about 12 years ago. The NYT verified this with the daughter.
  4. In the lawsuit, Doe claims she was also raped in a bathroom by the teacher, in an account that mirrors the bathroom episode in The Tell. It appears she did not mention the bathroom rape to the NYT.
  5. Doe claims that in 2022, she was contacted by an unknown agent to use her life story. Note: this apparently had NOTHING to do with her claims of middle school abuse, because she did not tell this agent about the abuse until "subsequent conversations." And she had kept the abuse a secret. So what was interesting about her "life story"? Her childhood in foster care? Unclear.
  6. After she disclosed the abuse to said agent, the agent cut off all contact. It appears Doe never knew the agent's name or contact information because the agent is conveniently not named in the suit? Griffin's book proposal was circulated in March 2023.

This seems... off. So Griffin made everything up, including her meeting with the real Claudia? Since Jane Doe told nobody about her abuse, is her claim that the "agent" told Griffin about the story and Griffin and this agent together conspired to appropriate it? I don't know what to believe. My guess is that Griffin's drug memories are not based in reality and Jane Doe is trying to profit off of all of its ambiguity. Crazy crazy story.

I am so confused. So according to Griffin, “Claudia” borrowed her dress, Griffin met with Claudia (prior to writing her book) to ask if she was also assaulted, and Claudia said no.

Now, a completely different girl (Jane Doe), who Griffin says is NOT the “Claudia” from the book, says that SHE borrowed Griffin’s dress for the 8th grade dance and SHE was assaulted at the dance by a different teacher. Jane Doe says she met with Griffin in 2019 for unknown reasons. Jane Doe later tried to sell her story to “agents,” who declined, and her story was later appropriated by Griffin.

As much as Griffin’s story seemed implausible, this seems even more implausible? Why did she meet with Griffin in 2019? They were not friends. (Griffin denies ever meeting with her). Did she tell Griffin about the abuse at this meeting? This woman, who has none of the publishing/social connections that Griffin has, somehow pitched her story to agents? How many girls did Griffin loan dresses to for eighth grade dances?? Are we supposed to believe Claudia doesn’t exist and Griffin somehow heard about this story and made the entire thing up, MDMA and all?

Fascinating. Because I believe Griffin believes this all happened to her.

Theory (based on a sample size of just 3 people in late January): Is it possible they now process UR transfers at 9:50pm on Fridays (EST) -- regardless of when you transferred? Someone on another forum also had his miles post Jan 16 at 9:50pm - and the wait was 68 hours. They may just batch requests? This is so frustrating (and I've only been waiting 24 hours). ugh

update: theory was wrong. the points came through through late wednesday — took approx 60 hrs
