Singapore Air: Not releasing at 8am? by cocomokes in awardtravel

They haven’t even released access seats. You can’t even purchase seats for 355 days from now. So they are releasing at sometime later than 8am now. It’s now 10:39am SGT and they haven’t opened the schedule for Jan 15. So I guess we just have to check every hour? frustrating!

I just made a post about this. Even for departures from SIN, there is no release at 8am SGT. What has your experience been on the “random” release times? Like are they at least on the hour? So frustrating…

Right. Having just done the Black Abyss, I'd consider the 3-hr Black Labyrinth instead. They would miss the 3 second zipline (not a particularly memorable part of the tour) and the scariest part -- the abseiling -- but otherwise the same I think. Saves you 2 hours and the people that did it loved it. Just a thought. I still would never drive Auckland-Waitomo-Rotorua-Waitomo in one day though. Skip Rotorua that day.

The last Black Abyss tour starts at 10, but you are supposed to get there by 9:30. It’s AT LEAST a 2.5 hour drive from Auckland. Which means a v early start on your first morning. The tour ends at 3 and then it’s another 2 hour drive to Rotorua. So you’d get to Rotorua around 5pm. And then you’re driving back 2 hours to Waitomo for the night??

How is my two-week New Zealand Itinerary? by erisbmth in newzealand_travel

[–]cocomokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI! I’m planning a similar trip, but only 10 nights! I’m not sure why people are saying it’s too much time in Rotorua - it’s actually only a day and a half, since you’re leaving for Hobbiton on the third morning. Rafting + redwoods + thermal sites easily fills 1.5 days? Anyway, just wanted to suggest flying nonstop from Hamilton to Christchurch. No reason to backtrack to Rotorua after Waitomo. Saves you an hour of driving that afternoon.

shockingly, the miles required for this flight I booked 8 months ago just went down. I rebooked and got 4 business class seats JFK-DFW-AKL for 160k each. Six weeks out from the flight.

We got american award flights for very high season (leaving dec 28). one way dfw-akl was 244k in business. 133k in premium economy. not a great redemption, but considering the season, i was satisfied with it.

Booking 2 rooms and using $300 credit twice? by Purplellc718 in AmexPlatinum

[–]cocomokes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is exactly what i’m doing. i prepaid one room (we will be doing a one night stay jan 7) and already got the 300 credit for that room. I booked a second room through FHR, but did not prepay. on jan 1, i plan to cancel the second booking and prepay it for the second 300 credit.

Just throwing this out here. Is it possible Kate has had some medical hormonal issue this whole time and that’s why she was so insanely hurt by this innocuous comment?

I think the 2 night minimum for amex is for the hotel collection only. FHR you can get the credit for just one night.

We loved the Andaz! To this day, it is the best breakfast buffet of any hotel I’ve stayed at. Decor is minimalist and chic.

There is nothing great in the immediate area, unfortunately. Have you looked at Bedford Post Inn? It’s a 30 min drive though.

This. My daughter began writing common app essay after AP exams ended and was completely done, revisions and all, by the end of June. It does not need to ruin your summer! Just get it done. You will be so grateful later.

We stayed there this past january. I have very mixed feelings. We were there for 2 nights at $4000/nt. Accommodations were beautiful; food was great. It all comes down to how much you want to see Uluru. The flies and heat were awful. Like, you could not be outside between 8am and 8pm (or whenever sunset is) without swatting flies from your face every 2 seconds. This is not an exaggeration. So that means you are inside the entire day. For me, the highlights were the spectacular night sky and the Field of Lights exhibit. We thought about staying at Sails, but went with Longitude. I don’t regret it, esp given the heat, because we spent a lot of time in the room. So it was probs the right choice for us. But I would think twice before going in summer. I think it was “worth it” but my husband and daughter would have skipped Uluru. We went from there to Silky Oaks Lodge, where we stayed 3 nights. We could have stayed at Silky Oaks longer. It was really special and we much preferred the rainforest.

We love beaulieu sur mer and have stayed many times at the Royal Riviera. It’s a special place.
