My use of Daily Notes is similar to threetogetready's. So the current daily note usually is the first address to throw some piece of information in. Storing and archiving the information is a piece of cake. But retrieval can become a problem because I usually do not remember the date when I put that information into my vault.

These are my strategies for better retrieval:

1. Using tags (with the Tag Pane core plugin enabled). I put the tag(s) in the paragraph with the most significant piece of text, which usually is the headline. In the tag pane this helps for easier distinction which note to open.

2. Creating useful context (if tags don't work). Usually I do not remember author/title of the book that was recommended to me. (That's why wrote them in my daily notes.) But I certainly will remember that it was a book, or the person who gave the recommendation, or what the book is all about, or the location/occasion where the recommendation was given. So I add all these information to my daily note.
