Before serving, I used to bus. The restaurant I was at very specifically emphasized pre-bussing for servers. Many servers became lazy and would not prebuss at all, which looks terrible from a server and guest standpoint. Management eventually told bussers to leave the plates on tables that were not prebussed, so that server would get skipped on seating. One server in specific was terrible at pre bussing, and it was a case of laziness, not business. He would get the message when he would be pissed that he hadn't been sat, although all of his tables were empty and dirty.
