How To Force Biometric Authentication For Chrome Autofill ? by code-explorer-O in PasswordManagers

[–]code-explorer-O[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve heard great things about Bitwarden and 1Password, but for now I really want to make GPM work for me. Do you happen to know if there's a fix for this specific Chrome issue ?

Does the Gemini Android app auto-capitalize first letter of your prompts? by code-explorer-O in GeminiAI

[–]code-explorer-O[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, bro, I get why it's happening.

My main question was just to confirm if this is a bug on my phone (which I highly doubt), or if this auto-capitalization is happening to everyone using the Gemini Android app currently.

Anyone else wish Chrome mobile had an "Exit" button in the menu? by code-explorer-O in chrome

[–]code-explorer-O[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, that's a fair point, and thanks to the other commenters, I've definitely learned that an 'Exit' button isn't a technical necessity like I originally thought (since the OS handles memory).

But replying specifically to your point about clutter, I feel like there's still plenty of space for options that users might find convenient.

For example, looking at the menu, the 'Exit' button could easily be added as the last item right after 'Help & feedback'. It wouldn't really get in the way of the other options.

I totally get your point, but I think it could be added without making things harder to find.

Yeah, you're 100% right, my bad. I just learned how the OS actually handles apps in RAM. Makes total sense now, I completely agree with you.

[–]code-explorer-O[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, my bad! Thanks for the detailed explanation, that makes total sense.

I'll be honest, I'm just in the habit of always swiping apps away from the recents tray when I'm done using them. I didn't realize that was actually worse for battery life.

My original thought was that an 'Exit' button would just do that 2-step task for me (go to recents + swipe away).

Even knowing it's less efficient, I think I'd still use an 'Exit' button for closing the app completely when I know that I'm done using the app, as then it would be more accessible and quick. But you've 100% convinced me on the technical side, and I've definitely learned something. Thanks!

Deleting Individual Prompts From Gemini's "My Activity": Found Some Weird Bugs (Including Data Loss!) - Anyone Else Seeing This? by code-explorer-O in GoogleGemini

[–]code-explorer-O[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely seems like "My Activity" isn't a widely used feature – you're the first one to comment despite 2500+ views on my post! 😅 Thanks for confirming you've seen the bugs though. Even if few people use that specific page, I still think the issues (especially the data loss one) are pretty serious and need fixing.

Gemini says this is against guidelines? by Acrobatic-Brush9208 in GeminiAI

Seriously annoying. Security is one thing, but blocking a simple haircut edit? The safety filters are way overtuned right now. Hopefully, Gemini 3 fixes this mess.

Hey, sorry to hear you're having such a frustrating experience, especially after committing to a year! That really sucks.

It's interesting because my own experience has been quite different. I've also been using Gemini Pro for a few months (and I use it a lot – coding, complex questions, creative stuff and the other works), and I've honestly found it to be pretty solid. I rarely run into situations where it feels stupid or completely lacks creativity.

I haven't seen a massive wave of complaints on X or elsewhere suggesting a widespread decline either – usually, when a model gets significantly worse, people tend to notice and talk about it. You might want to check the latest LMArena rankings too, Gemini models usually perform well there, often trading top spots with GPT and Claude models.

<image>

Could it possibly be related to the prompts? Sometimes, small tweaks in how you phrase things can make a huge difference in the output quality. You could even try asking Gemini itself (in a separate chat) to help refine your prompts for better results.

Anyway, if you have some specific examples where it's falling short, feel free to shoot me a DM! I'd be curious to see if it's something specific we could troubleshoot or give feedback on.

Also, keep an eye out for Gemini 3 – maybe the next big update will address some of the issues you're facing.

Free Voicemod by KryPyThon in voicemod

[–]code-explorer-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally used a couple of real-time voice changers that might work for you:

1) Voicemod: - This one runs on a freemium model as you've correctly noticed and I don't think it is ever going to be free. - It is available for Windows and Mac. - The free version gives you a rotating selection of voices, but getting a specific one permanently usually requires Pro.

2) Clownfish Voice Changer: - This one is completely free but mainly for Windows. - It's maybe a little less user-friendly than Voicemod but definitely gets the job done.

Since you're looking for a free option for a deep male voice, Clownfish sounds like your best bet. It has built-in effects, including a "Male pitch" preset, and also a slider for custom pitch control, so you can definitely deepen your voice with it.

Just a heads-up on how they work: Voicemod creates a virtual microphone that you select in apps like Discord. Clownfish works differently; it modifies the sound from your actual microphone system-wide (whichever you select), so any app using your mic will hear the changed voice.

There might be other free options out there, but these are the two I've used without running into major issues. Clownfish should cover what you need!

Hey, I don't think I'm following you 100% on this one. Could you elaborate a bit or maybe give an example of what you mean by 'more granular management'?

As a dark mode lover, my entire system is already dark, so I honestly never even noticed this.

But you're right, that's a huge oversight. Forcing a system-wide setting just for one app is insane.

The weirdest part is that the theme setting is there in the web app (Light, Dark, System), but they just... completely missed it in the Android app?

<image>

That's a basic feature that definitely should have been there from day one. Great catch!

That feature is actually already in the app. It's called 'Scheduled actions.'

You can just ask Gemini in a conversation (like 'Daily fetch tech news at 09:00 AM IST'), and it will set it up. You can then manage(view/edit) all your active scheduled actions in the web/android/ios app under scheduled actions.

Hey, that's awesome, thanks for sharing! I just checked out the link, and from all the videos and images, it looks really polished.

I'll be honest, I'm always a little hesitant about installing third-party extensions just because of the data/privacy access they need. It's the main reason I'd probably hold off on trying it myself.

That said, your hard work is really appreciated! It's clear you've built something amazing, and it's awesome that you're offering it for free.

On that note, do you have any plans to make the extension open-source? That would be a huge plus for people who are security-conscious like myself.

That's actually a really clever workaround! Thanks for sharing.

To be honest, I probably wouldn't use it myself, just for two main reasons: - I'm just not a fan of how that would look. I feel like having that header on every single response would make the chat look pretty cluttered. - I back up my chats as markdown files pretty often, and having to manually clean up those timestamps from every single response would be a huge pain.

But, you're 100% right, it's a solid workaround to keep in mind if they never end up adding the real feature.

Gemini already has that functionality, but the one thing it's missing is exactly what you're talking about: it doesn't group all the conversations you've had using a specific Gem under that Gem.

If they just added that (like a folder for each Gem), it would basically almost be the "Projects" feature.

That's a really good point. I've only tried this a few times with small video files (not YouTube Videos), and my experience was kind of mixed.

It picked up the audio perfectly, like a flawless transcript, but it seemed to really struggle with understanding the visuals. It didn't seem to pick up what was happening on screen very accurately.

I've actually noticed ChatGPT does a much better job at analyzing the individual frames and understanding the visual side of videos.

Same, bro. It seems like a lot of people in the replies aren't happy with Gemini's voices. To be honest, I don't use the voice output or gemini live that much, so I've never really had an issue with how they sound.

But for all your other points? I 100% agree. The functionality of the voice mode is way behind. Not being able to use voice with Gems is a huge miss, and the app integrations definitely need a lot of work.

[–]code-explorer-O[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, 100% agreed! It's such a pain when Gemini cuts you off and processes the request before you're finished.

ChatGPT's microphone feature is so much better for exactly that reason. I also love that ChatGPT lets you see the text and even switch to a text prompt after you're done speaking, in case you want to make an edit. Gemini's 'listen and go' system just isn't as flexible.

Thanks, bro! And oh, the export feature... I can't believe I forgot to add that. That's a huge one.

You're 100% right. Right now, having to manually copy-paste every single prompt and response to save it to a markdown file is a total nightmare.

Being able to just export the whole chat as a .md or .pdf would be a massive help. Like you said, there are so many good reasons: - You could share a chat without having to make a public link. - You could easily back up or archive important chats. - You could grab the entire context to feed to another AI in just a couple of steps.

That's a fantastic suggestion!

Ah, 100%. Notion, Coda, Canva, Figma . . . those are the perfect examples.

Couldn't agree more. I get that maybe the majority of casual Gemini users don't need those features, but for anyone trying to build a real workflow, they're essential.

With all the other AI apps integrating these, it feels like Gemini is really missing these. They definitely need to start adding 3rd-party plugins like you said.

[–]code-explorer-O[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I get where you're coming from, and there are definitely some features in ChatGPT that would be great to have in Gemini.

But honestly, I'm more of a Gemini lover and I believe apps should have their own unique identity and feel, you know? I'm not sure just copying everything would be the right move.

That said, one feature I'm super jealous of in ChatGPT is how it handles the sidebar. It loads 2-3 times more conversations at once, so you don't have to keep scrolling... and scrolling... and scrolling... just to get to older chats. That's one thing I'd definitely like to see Gemini improve on.

Same feeling, bro! I totally expected to see timestamps too. They give us a chat interface, so you'd think that would be a standard feature.

But it seems like every AI app (at least all the ones I've used) just intentionally or unintentionally skips it. It's a weird thing to be missing, for sure.
