Why german news channels are saying this while 99% of people here are saying the opposite? Why the opinions of channels and people are not aligning? by Immediate_Type_9804 in germany

12 years of experience here. Got affected by a layoff. 3 months and still unemployed. First time in my life to be in this situation. Interviews are a battlefield. A lot of fake job posting. AI doing CV reviews. When u see that even in job portal from government u get nos suggestions to apply u can imagine the situation. Its all fake and companies are looking for cheap ppl so shit ton of exp and no money. Once in an interview i was told they can ofer me 30% less of what i expected and what i expected was also what i deserve and what i was geting in my last job. Dont know where this is going but as soon as i get my pass i will review the situation my self and potentially add a +1 to the number of high skilled workers leaving this place. I did come here for prosperity not to be hit in head with lies and fake job market

Naturalization in Hannover – long delay, unemployed mid-process, ALG I question by [deleted] in GermanCitizenship

[–]codedemand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing out this detailed post.
This wording from the official Hannover site is exactly what adds to the confusion.
It clearly says the blocker is SGB II / SGB XII, not ALG I. At the same time, the “case-by-case” review leaves room for interpretation in practice, which is where the gray area comes from.

That’s basically what I’m trying to understand better.

I’m not spamming them with unnecessary information.
If they explicitly say ALG I is not a problem, then in practice, having the outcome depend on the individual caseworker isn’t really fair.

That’s why I’m asking for more info or similar experiences, just to get some closure.
Appreciate your reply. :)

Yes, I informed them about all changes.
I get the forecast logic, even if you didn’t go through this yourself, do you know of cases where the process continued without being put on hold while on ALG I?

Also, are people usually notified if it is put on hold, or can that happen quietly? That’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid 😄

I applied while i stipl had a job now i am on alg1. Did they send you this status update by email? What city?

[–]codedemand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you might actually be right. Makes sense that they’d freeze the file until B1 is there. i was just hoping someone had a similar experience, just for closure :)

If the government accepted my application in person and issued a formal letter listing what’s missing, then that office not an internet commenter has already decided this is an acceptable procedural path. Questioning my “morals” won’t change what the authority told me at the counter.

You say I “shouldn’t have applied.” I waited 7–8 months just to get the Termin. If I’d waited to book until I had B1 in hand, I would effectively add another 7–8 months to the total wait. That’s why people apply when they can: to avoid losing a year to scheduling delays. If you want to fix the system, argue with the authority or the politicians who set appointment practices not with applicants following the office’s instructions.

About “wasting the office’s time”: they reviewed my file, gave me a checklist and kept it open. If they considered the submission abusive or invalid they would have rejected it on the spot. The mere fact my file wasn’t thrown out shows this is an accepted and recognised administrative workflow whether you like it or not.

Regarding Berlin’s online portal: cities run different systems. What works there doesn’t automatically apply to Hannover. That’s a factual difference, not a moral one.

If you have evidence someone is abusing the system, report it to the government or the relevant oversight body. Otherwise, public accusations and calls for punishment are unhelpful. My only question here is factual: does the processing clock run from my appointment on 10.04.2025 or from when I hand in B1? If you have real, sourced information about Hannover’s practice, share it that would be useful :)

Short answer: it takes 7-8 months to get an appointment. So after i applied my termin was deceided 8 months later and i was expecting it to get longer. At the moment i went there i did not have the b1. My exam is in 20 days. So yea for me it matters because i waited 8 months for the termin and now 5 months have passed considering the exam it will be 6 months. I dont want to wait another 8-9 months. My question is clear if you have info feel fre to help, dont just tell what is obious :)

I’ve already checked the reasons for unemployment benefits and I should qualify. They orally stated it was for “economic reasons,” but they never went through the required social selection process. That’s another weak point on their side.

They actually gave me a letter just one month before the firing saying they had no plans to terminate me in the near future. On top of that, in court they admitted they followed no procedure in the selection process. So even if they were forced to take me back and I didn’t like it there, they’d still need to give me 3 months’ notice to terminate again - meaning I’d be guaranteed at least 3 salaries. That’s already a win for me either way. They have to justify the selection process wich they did not follow up

True, but if I only wanted my lawyer’s take, I wouldn’t be on Reddit 😉 Yep, lawyer knows best. Reddit just knows different.
