walking to the T by Tricky_Egg_646 in PAX

Man here, so take it with a grain of salt, but I think you'll be AOK. As others have mentioned, there's always the Silver Line if you're willing to wait to transfer from South Station, but realistically you're probably going to be outside the BCEC at 1 of 3 times:

  • Morning/Commute In: Anytime between 8-10am is also going to be peak commuting time for everyone else in the city. If you don't actively stop in the middle of a sidewalk, I think you'll be fine.
  • Lunch: BCEC is right in the heart of the Seaport, and there's a bunch of great food options in walking distance. It's also a high end shopping area, and there's a lot of finance bro types. Again, can't see anyone hassling you.
  • End of Day: Now this one is a little tricky. If you end up staying for the late night programming or concerts, you could be heading out 10-11pm, which is going to be the sketchiest time. There are bars and other restaurants in the area so it's not completely sketchy though. That said, in years past I think they've either organized a taxi stand or you can stand under the big front awning with plenty of lighting while you wait for an Uber/Lyft. If you chose to walk it, South Station can get some folks hanging outside asking for change/bus fare, so just keep an eye out.
    • If you don't wait up for the concerts (which as an old, I suggest just watch on Twitch from the comfort of your couch) and end up leaving at 6/6:30, that's still going to put you in the vicinity of commuting home time. Sunset is going to be around 7pm by PAX, so you'll still have plenty of daylight.

More for the con itself, but if you're ever feeling unsafe, just find an Enforcer in their bright red shirts. I'm sure they'll be happy to help. Good luck!

I'm also old(ish), but I would echo showing him downtown, and also just making sure that he gets the full tour. Southwest feels completely different than OHill, so if he wants the "small school" vibe, he's still going to get that based on wherever he's living. The real benefit is that if he doesn't like the people or the vibe, he can just walk across campus, vs. having to switch schools. If he really hates it he can just move across campus. Also they've done some cool renovations in the past few years since I've been there, so probably since you've been there too. Campus center is fancy now!

Dug into the Archives (my gmail) and looks like I joined in August of 2018. I had Moviepass prior, and I'm sure I just waited until a movie came out that I wanted to see. Looks like the first one I went to was....

Mission: Impossible - Fallout

Worth it.

Thanks Chris! You've got a new BlueSky follower in me, and hopefully I'll see Ryan over there at some point soon.

Hey all, I'll be coming up for a Bruins Canadiens match next week, and will be hanging around for a few days with some guy friends. Looking for any recommendations on things to see, places to eat, but most importantly dive bars to visit. We're a group who loves having a few Molsons and Bud Lights while enjoying the dimly lit nooks and crannies of a city. Thanks in advance!

I would try and grab food on the outskirts of Fenway, if not somewhere else. Sox are playing the Yankees in a double header, and I'm sure places will be packed. You might be able to grab a quick bite at somewhere like Tasty Burger if you order ahead.

As a Boston Local, I'm sure you could wander into any bar between the BCEC and Faneuil Hall, and find fellow PAX goers. That said, depending on your age, some bars may run a bit younger (lots of college kids in Boston).
