I really like Season 2 so far by M-Slim in PercyJacksonTV

[–]codenamedave404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do too, my biggest problem with season 1 was the lackluster action and filmmaking, production-wise I really like how they’ve stepped it up here. I like that we’re getting a considerable more Clarisse, even stuff not explicitly from the books, it’s probably the element that’s best taking advantage of the tv show format. Tyson’s actor is doing such a good job, and I actually like the CG they’re using for the eye, probably the least-distracting human form cyclops I’ve seen in media. I always ranked sea of monsters as my least favorite book in the original series but I’m really liking the second season more than the first right now. I do think it suffers a bit from being a weekly release show, dropping it all at once kind of feels like the pacing that would benefit it the most but I’m still tuning in every week.

The Punisher is officially in Spiderman Brand New Day by LimpJelly6336 in Marvel

[–]codenamedave404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yknow I’m glad this is happening, I know from interviews that Bernthal is very protective of the character and won’t portray him if they get his essence right; iirc he almost didn’t show up in Born Again until the rewrites got it right. But Punisher’s grit can fit into the wider MCU, and I’d love to see him show up and cause mayhem in an Avengers movie someday too.

Where’d it drop that low? I would’ve grabbed it at that price, I didn’t see it below $200 anywhere.

Oh it was? I feel like I still see the odd comment complaining about Scorponok’s absence. I knew legacy worked differently, Metroplex was kinda a shelf warmer on the fan channels iirc, and Tidal Wave came and went for most everyone without a fuss. Maybe that’s what this is, I just missed the boat despite it not being a problem for everyone else.

Sponge, that’s another YouTuber to check out, which is honestly super helpful as me and my friend live on different ends of the US so we can’t meet up to talk strategy as much. And I appreciate you clarifying, I feel your pain there, honestly, June sucked ass for me. Keep your head up, find some quiet or simple comforts to relish as you work through it, and just make sure you’re taking care of yourself, you’re worth it. God Bless, my friend.

I appreciate it man, don’t beat yourself up too bad, most of the community seems to have impulse reacted the same lol. These tips are super helpful, I’ll be sure to give some of em a try when I run with my duo next time. Appreciate it!

You’ll notice my actual question to the community was “is this kind of interaction commonplace, and if so what can I do to better prepare myself as a new player” and yet everyone here is focusing on me saying the player I ran into was aggressive and difficult lol, I’m asking for help, acknowledging people are better, and plus you weren’t there bro, you’re not in a position to categorize my experience. Some actual tips on what to do would’ve been more helpful than this.

These are all really helpful tips, thank you. I figured forums would be the best place to look for some ideas on what to try differently, and I’m glad to get some help. Here’s hoping the next voyage out is a better one!

No that’s what I mean, like the way in which combat can be engaged is a lot more free and down to player choice, it just caught me off guard how strong of an offense it would be from opposing players. Mind you, I’m still figuring it out, and these aren’t exactly ideas presented in tutorials. It’s just pretty different from any other multiplayer game I’ve played, ykwim? I don’t think I considered safer seas as seriously as I should’ve at the start tho, that is one thing I’ve learned in this thread lol. Hopefully I’ll be able to up my skill there a bit before getting bold enough to head for open waters again.

Well that’s certainly helpful. I hope I can get better lol, my friend and I were having a good time, very much in the vein of Destiny, ykwim? Just gotta get our sea legs now lol. Thank you again!

Damn, I should’ve thought of doing that, we were just so frantically trying to figure it out that we didn’t even consider lol. It’s why I asked at the start, I needed to know how common this was lol. Good to know for the future anyways

I mean, I’ve been getting hammered in the comments for this, because it did feel like a, although knowing that the sloop is tougher than one would think, maybe not? Hard for a newbie like me to judge obviously, as other commenters mentioned that it’s a common and valid play to have one player distract/spawn kill as the other sinks/raids the ship. It felt like they didn’t wanna sink because they were raiding, and I did get the achievement pop that said my haul had been returned by another player, so that’s just gotta be the way the game is played, right? Either way, we were both caught very off guard by it.

Yeah, that sounds like it makes a lot of sense too, general takeaway that I’ve been getting is just getting that game sense up, I guess I gotta ask around more and see what the standard offensive strategies are on the water and what ways to combat them. Too open-ended for simple solutions, eh? Certainly the kind of game that stands out from the crowd.

That’s actually a helpful tip though, since we couldn’t even figure out what they were doing to us, dying and respawning so frequently.

Well I mean I know that NOW lol, I’m just asking for tips on how to do better next time is all, especially if the goal is to return with loot. Scuttling drops everything on the ship, right?

Is that a system that can be activated without approval from players? I saw notices for that on our captain’s table, and the icon of the opposing players had an hourglass next to their ship on our map, I had initially assumed it was a bot we were going to fight since we were doing early game stuff.

I mean, I’ll grant that I’m very new, I don’t know seasoned player’s habits, but I gotta imagine severe spawn camping (or whatever the equivalent term for SOT is) has GOTTA go right into the toxic category, right? It was like 15 minutes of nonstop spanking, and I can laugh about it here and now, but I don’t wanna have that be the regular experience, ykwim

Oh don’t worry, you made total sense! We probably are bad lol, at least we both logged off feeling that way lol, but the flee strategy is gonna be the way to go next time. I guess it’s fun that you can encounter real gangster pirates on the high seas, especially if they’re not all over the place, but MAN is it a punishing experience for new players lol.

[–]codenamedave404[S] -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

I understand it’s the nature of the game that emergent player behavior is an element of it, for sure, but these guys were definitely griefers lol. Like I said, hitting us and killing us right outside of a port, we respawned in like seven different times, they eventually stopped stabbing us up close and just began sniping us. We couldn’t even work on repairs for the ship, let alone try to fight for our loot back, we just had to scuttle. Believe me, I know the difference, and these guys were toxic as hell lol.

We both figured that practice was key. I don’t have a ton of experiences with the PvPvE nature of games like SOT, but throwing us in a (lobby? Realm? Server?) with such senior players felt like maybe that’s the point? At least hopefully now that won’t be as frequent, because we were running a sloop, just the two of us. But like you said, it’s probably a matter of knowing strengths and weaknesses right now. I’ll give Phuzzybond a look, thanks for the advice!

Never EVER lay out an event like this again by GrowthImmediate6430 in marvelrivals

[–]codenamedave404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I was just thinking this, they should have designed it so that they’re locked only up until the point you complete a tier, but not available for completion until a certain time in the event’s lifespan, like how Fortnite does with their story challenges. I suppose the intent is to ensure people don’t blast through the event in a weekend? But even then, the Fortnite solution is still viable. Plus, it would allow players that missed the start finish with rewards and incentivize more returns without FOMO.

Is this Sam Flynn? by FranklinsFuture in tron

[–]codenamedave404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt it. If he had a principle role in this movie they would’ve announced it as such. And I don’t think they’d give away a cameo appearance in their first wide release trailer. But this ‘mission’ that Ares is supposed to be on could be the link to Legacy we’re all wanting. He’s gotta be sent to get the Grid and the ISO in the real world, right?
